Anyone like zombie movies or fiction?
I just bought a new game called State of Decay...awesome survival game.
I've watched bits of Resident Evil. Quite good if you skip some parts.
Does anyone here know the science behind non-fiction zombies?
Rising from the dead isn't so likely, but it would be possible for a virus, starting at the nasal area, to travel to the Ventromedial Hypothalamus, which tells you you're full, the Amygdala, which controls emotions and memory, and the frontal cortex, which is in charge of memory, morality, and prohibiting impulsive actions. This would create a super-hungry, brain-dead being unable to recognise friends or family nor control their own actions, except to feed. And think. All someone would have to do to be infected is breathe. Have fun.

*looks suspiciously at people with colds*
Well im playing gears of war judgement and it has "lambent humans" they have caught an infection from lumolsion exposier (lumosion is a type of fuel in the game) and they are slowly taken over by the infection causing them to kill any thing that moves, and when they die they explode!
In preivios games there has been lambent locust (the enemy in the game)lambent dogs, cats and plants.
I love the Gears series and Resident Evil. I've been a zombie fan ever since the early 80s. I grew up with Romero and Fulci movies. :)
My top 5 favorites are as follows:
5. Day of the Dead 1985
4. Return of the Living Dead 1985
3. Zombie 1979
2. Night of the Living Dead 1968
1. Dawn of the Dead 1978
As for books and comics, I love the Walking Dead comic and enjoy the Day by Day Armageddon series.
As for "real life" zombies...the game Last of Us is based off of a real fungus that effects ants turning them into mindless machines. The game talks about the impact if it jumped species. :o

its pretty cool, you get some uir weapons (pendulim war enimies) like the boshooka and mazuka.
Theres also the breechshot and the ability to use any weapon with the boomsheild.
It has a new "overrun" mode were locusts have to destroy objetives protected by the cog (i got up to leavel 9) you can play as locust or cog

Well to be honest I don't know yet! :P Every time I see the preview my mind changes. :) Sometimes I'm like "That looks awesome!" and other times I am like, "Well, we shall see..." Heh, so I'm not much help there! :)
I enjoyed the book for the most part, there were some sections I didn't care for. But the preview for the movie, from the one I keep seeing, makes it seem like it can really go either way...I know for sure there are some crazy fast zombies....so if fast zombies don't float your boat it might be a no!
Fast zombies! *attaches bayonet the end of my shotgun*

Hahaha!
My friends and I often talk, proposing what if scenarios for zombies. Such as what we would do, where we would go, etc. And the one thing that comes up is if the zombie apocalypse happened and it turn out to be fast zombies....we wouldn't make it very far! :( :P
Id hate being stuck in a small building full of zombies, that scears me more :o
Won's Guide to surviving a zombie apocalypse:
1) You know your plans for camping out in a mall, cutting down zombies with a sword, and living on a diet of pizza? Ditch 'em. Find people that can garden. Natural foods is a better way to go, you'll last longer. And if all else fails, you can drop a pumpkin on a zombie's head.
2) Clean water, clean water, clean water! Nothing is more important. In retrospect, I should of made this number one. If you can, get a water bottle with a built-in filter. Another way you can filter water is to strain it through a dishcloth.
3) To be added.
3.GUNS!
4: Live next to a giant tesla coil. Then you can zap the living deadlights out of the zombies.

Some pretty good guide tips Won.
Yes, phoenix, the scenario can be downright frightening that is for sure.
On a side note, I generally like the more serious takes of movies and fiction on the subject. I'm not a fan of the goofy ones like Warm Bodies or Fido. Also I love Romero's insight with his original movies for it was a satire on human nature...he's a pretty smart guy.
Hmm. Actually, If I could have only five things for a Zombie Apocalypse, I would have:
1: The Airship Endeavor
2: A following skybarge filled to the brim with food, with a garden on top.
3: A following skybarge filled to the brim with things to drink, with raincatching barrels on top.
4: A following skybarge filled with charcoal, with a charcoal burning furnace and an orchard on top.
5: The crew to man all of these things.
There! Then I'd have infinite everything important! I could last out the apocalypse. We'd just rope ourselves to each other, make bridges, live up in the sky, just peacefully floating there. And build a city in the sky. Then we'd be safe.
Airship! Now why didn't I think of that. ;D Pretty good idea Rusvul.
I love the idea of airships...sooo cool. Hence why I love "Princess of Mars" and "Thongor". Lots of airships in those series. I have always like the idea of sky pirates.
Errr... I am one. Captain Rusvul of the Airship Endeavor. Leneat is the steersbeast, Ferron Oilspat is my engineer, and I have nothing to do with the maps. I have a terrible sense of direction.
This is awesome! I am a complete zombie nerd. :P I have read the zombie survival guide five time through (I'm not kidding). ;)
Jack: What 'appened to them?
Random Crew Member: They've been ZOMBIEFIED!

I love that book! :) Such a fun read but at the same time pretty practical as well.
Does anyone want to start a zombie RP (Not a redwall one)?
