Hi, I just recently got the urge to finish the Redwall series. I read "Redwall" and "Mattimeo" several years back and re-read them last week. Now, I don't know weather to continue the series with "The Pearls of Lutra" or begin chronologically with "Lord Brocktree."

So, would it be better to read the books chronologically or as they were published?

If you're a first time reader, publication. if you haven't read them in a while and want to see the time line of events unfold in order, then chronological order.

Hi guynamedluis. Check out the General Redwall Information topic for publication order and chronological order lists. ;)

I read them in order of publication.

Life is too short to rush through it.

I did too, even though I'm not finished yet. I'm almost there, I'm on Doomwyte though.

I personally prefer chronological order. As long as you don't just pick them up in random order, you should be fine! I read them totally out of order my first time. Usually that's ok, but I did read the few books that should be read in order out of order. :P
Living in peace, aye many a season,
Calm in life and sound in reason,,
'Til evil arrives, a wicked horde,
Driving a warrior to pick up his sword,
The challenger rings then, straight and fair,
Justice is with us, beware. Beware!

Agreed^ it fits togeher pretty well in the end though
Fun. is a fantastic band.

I personally prefer reading books in chronological order, though for these you can just read the first one and the rest will probably make sense no matter which order you read them in.  At least, in my opinion.

Thanks, MatthiasMan, for the avatar!

I enjoy reading them in chronological order.  It is nice to watch it evolve as you go.

And this whole time, I'm reading the books in publication order, I'm going to read The Sable Quean now. Oh well, I guess I can always re read them in chronological order.
