i read some redwall books and looked up matthias on the redwall wikis but, it never mentions which book he dies in. i know he dies of old age but, no one in the redwall books really acknowledges it. i mean, old methuselah and abbot mortimer are mentioned and pronunced dead in redwall; the original novel, but they n ever really make a big deal about matthias' memorial. i don't get it...
just wait until I make my daring escape!

I think he died between the books Mattimeo and Pearls of Lutra.

Yeah, there really wasn't any mention of Matthias' death or burial or anything like that, other than that he died of old age after the events of Redwall and some time before Pearls of Lutra. I wonder if he was given an epic burial as the first Redwall warrior in a long time, or if it was kept simple, like Abbey funerals usually are... what do you guys think?
Redwall is always open, its tables laden, to you and any of good heart.

I don't really know what happened when Matthias died but I'm sure he got a good burial :-*
