I agree with Redwallgurl, but at the end of Mattimeo it mentions that the colony was growing in the roofspaces, so I'm pretty sure that they did not die out.

I think there was already a topic on this, in which I pointed out that, as WONWILL just said, at the end of Mattimeo then it says that they were growing and flourishing, with that poet owl as their leader.

i think maybe they flew to look for a different home, your right they cant really all dissapear

Thats what I think about this thing as well. But its still weird why, if they did leave, they never came back to visit?

It  hard to tell. Personally,(and I know this is a dumb idea) I thought they lived up in the roof and the other books just never mentioned them.
