Well confidence is very important, especially when one is going to be fighting the enemy. Having a confident walk, and way of speaking are very important. It intimidates the enemy. Showing weakness makes you a target.  Even in real life you need to be confident.  ;)

Going into battle thinking your invincible isn't a good idea either. I don't think any Redwall heroes did that, except maybe events like the ambush of Dann, Song and Dippler in the Abbey.
Start building something beautiful and just put the hate away
