Medieval Heraldry Request

I was planing to design a flag, a shield, and some armor with a heraldic emblem from the medieval or Renascence period and I was wondering if you guys had any ideas?

  Hey, you could draw a shield with a certain emblem on it.  The emblem I'm picturing is an eagle flying and being struck by lightning or something.  That would be pretty cool, I think.

I know heraldic symbolism for several colors:

Gold (Or)   Generosity and elevation of the mind
Silver or White (Argent)   Peace and sincerity
Red (Gules)   Warrior or martyr; Military strength and magnanimity
Blue (Azure)   Truth and loyalty
Green (Vert)   Hope, joy, and loyalty in love
Black (Sable)   Constancy or grief
Purple (Purpure)   Royal majesty, sovereignty, and justice
Orange(Tawny or Tenne)   Worthy ambition
Maroon (Sanguine or Murray)   Patient in battle, and yet victorious

  Aha!  A maroon eagle with orange lightning?  Or purple lightning, if it's a king's shield.  Though, if it's a king's shield, it might be better to have a purple eagle with maroon lightning.
