OKAY, HERE'S WHAT WE'RE GONNA DO!
RULES:
1. IF YOU ARE A JUDGE, YOU CAN'T CONTRIBUTE YOUR WORK.
2. YOU M-U-S-T WRITE YOUR OWN STORY, NO COPYING FROM OTHER BOOKS.
3. HAVE FUN.
OKAY, THERE WILL BE FIVE JUDGES SPOTS. I WRITE SOME, BUT NOT VERY GOOD SO I'LL BE A JUDGE.
I'M TAKING FOUR OTHER JUDGE SPOTS, MESSAGE ME IF YOU WANT TO BE A JUDGE.
OTHERS MUST CONTRIBUTE THEIR WORK. (IF YOU WANT TO)
POST YOUR WORK ANYTIME, BUT A WARNING, THE WORK MUST BE MODEST, AND THE DEADLINE IS AUGUST, 15, 2011. REMEMBER MODEST AND NON-ROMANCE! I DON'T WANT ANY OF THE KIDDIES SEEING ANY OF THAT. HAVE FUN!

-Sometime later, the second mate was unexpectedly rescued by the subplot, which had been trailing a bit behind the boat (and the plot). The whole story moved along.

Are there any other rules, like genres allowed or maximum length? Perhaps any topics to avoid to prevent playing to a judge's favorite characters/subjects (just to help keep things fair)?

It can't be any longer than fifteen chapters, it must be longer than four chapters, and I'll be moderating to see if it's acceptable or not. Not accepting romance, horror, etc etc.

I'd love to either judge or write...but when I start writing I get carried away. (I'm writing a book right now that I plan on publishing, so yeah)
