For those who don't know, the last week has been me trekking around the great capital of the United States of America. I had lots of fun and decided that, for y'all's enjoyment, I'll post pictures of my travels.

Some places I couldn't or wouldn't take a picture of, (the Archives and the mint) so these aren't all the places I've been.

This statue needs some explaining. Colonel Robert Shaw (the one riding the horse) was the commander of the first African American detachment in the Union army, the 54th Massachusets. He was the son of a wealthy aristocrat and abolitionist. He is shown at his last battle, an assault on Fort Wagner, a heavily defended Confederate stronghold. He and almost all of his command died trying to take the place.

There's only the Air and Space museum left to upload, but I'll leave that for later. You've got plenty enough now. ;)

Nice. Why are Marie Antoinette's earrings at the Natural History Museum?
The fastest way to a man's heart- Or anyone's, in fact- Is to tear a hole through their chest.

Indeed. You are as ancient as the soot that choked Pompeii into oblivion, though not quite as uncaring. - Rusvul

Just a butterfly struggling through my chrysalis.

Hickory

It's in the Geology section. Probably because of the crystals embedded in them.
