*  Sculrig and the rest of the crew were still trying to make his way through the barrage of ballistas raining down upon them. He kept trying to lead the crew in a charge but every time he tried the fire kept getting heavier and they were forced to retreat. Sculrig tried to get the crew to keep trying.
"C'mon let's show those creatures who we are! We are the crew of Cap'n Visefan' the Red! Move your'n 'ides, Viiiiiiiiiiiseefaaaaaaannnnnnngg!"
The crew charged once more but he himself was forced to retreat when an arrow flew down and struck him straight through the paw! He ducked behind a rock where he pulled the arrow out of his paw bad-temperdly. One of the crew walked over to him and asked,
"Yer all righ-"
"Shut yer gob and get these crew under cover!"
He pushed the vermin away from him yelling more orders.
"Gasher get the crew together rally them under Visefang!"
He gripped his paw tightly. This is going to be harder than he thought.

* Gasher looked at Sculrig, he spat scornfully. "Aye-aye, sir." He walked towards the fray. "Fall back! Back to the captain!" He helped a crewbeast up and pushed him towards the rest of the crew. Then he ran back to the front of the crew. "Charge!!! Viiisefaaang!!!" They charged at the Goodbeasts crowding the shores. He swung his war-hammer from left to right and right to left, cleaving down all in his way.

As he came face to face with a huge hedgehog, it knocked him aside with a big club, and Gasher knocked his head against the protruding rocks, and all went dark.

Farril waited until the right moment and sprang to the side with his sword down, neatly tripping Joey. He picked him up and set him on a branch of a tree where he couldn't get down. He sheathed his sword. Walking closer to Spera, he said, "Now, now. Be a good little squirrel and put away that dagger. As long as you tell me enough information, I won't hurt you." He noticed her glance up. He turned around and tried to see where she had been looking. He thought he could see a silhouette against therapidly fading light. He turned back around. "So, you've brought one of your friends? How charming." He said, smiling. He turned around again, addressing whoever was on top of the cliff. "You stay up there" he called, "or I won't hesitate hurting this one." He flicked his saber-tip over to where Joey was clinging to the tree, holding it inches away from him.

Golfar woke with a start, instinctively grabbing her sword hilt How long was I out? she wondered.  Standing up she first looked over at the ship that was still floating at least, but she could see that it would never sail again, at least not without many seasons of work as smoke was still rising from the remains and only an occasional small fire on the ends of blackened beams.

Well, it was a fine ship, but the fates are what they are, no changing it now.  Now... where is that Skral ... she asked herself, looking around the rock she had found.

Seeing the crew amassed by their landing boats and charging in waves, she peered into the crowd, seeing no sign of the big lizard. Then, she heard a scream of a mousemaid not far from her location, but higher on the hillside. Knowing that the cause of the fright would only be one of her crew mates, and thinking it may be Skral, she ran up to it.  Not far from the scene, she saw Farril picking up a small mousebabe and placing him in a tree. Then she saw him talking to someone farther up the hill.  She could see it was a squirrel, who looked like she was very confident and capable with the weapons she carried.  Not a bad idea, even for a weasel, take a hostage for information and leverage.  It may come in handy.  However, I may need to be an extra sword for Farril as I don't see Navarre anywhere.  She ran closer and called over, "AHOY matey! Did ya catch us some dinner then? Har! I suppose we should take them to visit our dear captain first, before we decide as to who gets what piece!  I'm sure he'll be right hospitable to our two guests!"

"Here, I'll carry the little urchin, and you can escort our dear lady to her visitation to see our king and captain."  She grabbed the little squirming mass and tucked him under her left arm so her sword paw would be free in case the squirrel decided to be a hero. "Oho, what a fine welcome you will get!  C'mon Farril, let's show our guest to their party!" and with that she started down the hill toward the beach.

"Wait!" Farril said, stepping in front of Golfar. "You're ruining my plans! I might as well just walk away now! Oh, whatever. Here, you're holding him wrong. Let me get him cozy back on that tree and see if you can find somebeast to fight over there. I had everything worked out, so I might as well-" he heard a noise behind Golfar. Oh, great. Now Golfar has really ruined everything! Now somebeast's here to defend Spera and Joey! Farril thought. He leaned over to one side to see who it was...

*Vela was delighted at seeing the prospect of much blood. When she saw Visefang eyeing the large mouse in front of the group, she thought. "If I can get near that mouse, I could wound him and gain the captain's trust. She was suddenly drawn out of the prospect when a spark fell on deck and ignited a flame. Taking her bag, she whacked the flames until they were smothered. She saw a few more flames and smothered them until she didn't see any flames, but the ones on the other side of the ship.

Taking out her dagger, Vela creeped over the edge to find an unsuspecting goodbeast to assasain. "There must be younger beasts and the older beasts somewhere. They would be easy to get rid of and then these foolish fighters won't have much more to fight about. She decided that telling Visefang would be wiser so she could get some backup. She started sneaking over to where his figure was when she saw a hot coal come right at her so she stepped back. It fell right where she had stood a second before and she continued to move to wards the captain.

Navarre snuck up behind an unsuspecting Vannøyne. She raised her sword and swung it down, hoping to strike him.

Leatho Shellhound

The young mouse had heard the soft foot steps behind him. He could smell the foul unwashed fur, and waited for the right moment. Then, there it was! A small swishing sound of a sword coming down on him. With lighting speed he turned around locking the vermin's sword in his metal "claws". Moving a step forward he held the point of his sword under the vermin's, who he now saw to be a female ferret, chin.
Speaking softly in her ear he said. "This was the wrong mouse to fight, you and all your friends will die today, and most will be killed by me." As he said that a grim smile grew on his face.
"You will be my first victim; I am not a helpless pup, but a born warrior."

Golfar turned to see what Farril was talking about, only to be distracted by spotting something else below. Irritated as she was at the upstart crew beast, what she had seen was far more important to her - Skral! Turning back to Farril she said "Fine! Take the little morsel and do what you like, I've got bigger fish to fry!" Tossing the babe back to the weasel she turned and bolted down the hill.

Xbalantie rolled her eyes, this vermin was so easily distracted! She took advantage of his turned back and slid down the slope, closing the distance. Now it was just her, Spera, Joey, and the vermin. The squirrel drew her blowgun, and one of the few darts that was death on touch, she was going to give him one chance, "Hey! Bozo brains! You've got one chance to drop that babe and run. Do anything else, and I put one right through your stupid hide, be warned vermin, I never miss, try something, and you'll be dead before you can say ouch!" She raised the blowgun, preparing to fire in case the vermin was foolish enough to try anything, she should have just shot him from the cliff top and ended it there, easy enough, but there was another vermin around then.
