Kiaushi took in a deep breath as he entered the koryu of the Black Swan School. The head sensei of the school, master Adachihara, had been hosting tournaments once a year for the past twenty four years. This year was special, the twenty fifth year of the great tournament. Beasts with skills in the ancient arts had come from far and wide to compete this day.

The ronin looked around, spotting various beasts that shared in his craft. Some he knew right away he could best, others only time would tell. There were two beasts on the mats at the moment. The head sensei and a board of other sensei watched on.

A hare and a red panda faced off, their wooden bokken making loud clacking noises as the two brought their weapons into play. Kia was sure of the hare's victory from the first move and it was not long before he scored a hit that would be considered a death blow to his opponent.

After entering his name into the preliminary rounds the raccoon sat and watched the proceedings.  His name was eventually called and the raccoon fought well. After multiple rounds he bested all comers and was now to be pitted against a beast named Kogane. Kia had seen this marten fight and knew it would not be an easy task to be beat. The two would now vie for the top spot in the day's tournament.

The raccoon took his place on the mat, held his bokken at his side and bowed in the traditional fashion to the one he would now face in combat.
