Bryony was up extremely late. Too Late. She was trying to reach the Abbey of Redwall by Nightfall but that plan had not gone too well. Now, she was wandering, trying to find the legendary Abbey, but it was almost three hours past nightfall and she still hadn't found it. After giving her problem some thought she decided to stay the night in the woods under a tent. The young squirrel threw a traveling blanket over a mighty Oak limb and staked down the sides of the blanket. Afterwards she made a small fire and put some leftover stew on the fire to cook for her extremely late dinner.

About an hour later, Bryony had finished her meal and went into her makeshift tent, dousing out the fire until it was only down to smoldering coals. Crawling under her heavy coat to keep her warm during the night. She thought about many things.

She Reflected on her mother and father, who died in the mighty vermin wars, leaving her to an old nurse to stay. Sadly, that nurse was the only person Bryony had come to know closely. The nurse, though, was not very nice to the squirrel at all. Bryony had many times ran away because of the way she was being treated. by the cruel old lady. She missed her mother and father, though she had never known them well.

Bryony rummaged in her pack, drawing out two items. One was a hand-and-a-half sword which her father had given to the grouchy nurse and that the nurse had passed on to her once she was mature enough to handle it. It was a very simple weapon, not elaborate, but it meant a lot to her. The other item was the most precious of all. It was a pure gold figure of a squirrel. Pure gold! Not only that, but it was inset with several beautiful diamonds. Two glittering emeralds for the eyes were the highlight of the figure. She clutched this close to her then put both items in the pack. She afterwards, fell asleep quickly.

Several hours later.....

Bryony awoke early in the morning by a snap of a twig. She grabbed her bow and her quiver of arrows, which were her other weapons, then paced outside the tent slowly. She put a shaft on her bow the jumped outside the tent, scanning the area. The woods were silent besides a beetle, standing atop a broken twig. She flicked the beetle away with the tip of her arrow then packed her bags to travel once more. Bryony, making good time, placed away all her objects in her haversack then put the blanket on top. She was prepared to hike.

A few minutes later, she found herself hungry for she had not eaten breakfast at all. The squirrel pulled out an apple and munched away on it. She threw the apple core away in the woods then searched in her haversack again. Bryony grabbed hold of her figurine, then pulled it out. She admired the craftiness of the item and the remarkable beauty of the golden squirrel. She continued her traversing while admiring her gift.

Thresher loved treasure.

That was the most blunt term to some up the sly Wildcat's personality: the pursuit of treasure was his greatest desire. Many creatures had lost there life to Thresher: anything precious that he laid his eyes on he had to had. He was distrusted amongst the vermin merchants down south: known as a cunning, cut-throat dealer and common gambler, Thresher had developed a reputation for deceit and as a creature not to be trusted. Many times he would gain a fortune, the promptly loose it to hard gambling: he was never without a will to gain jewels and other valuable items, sometimes taking it to drastic measures to get what he wanted.

And he was on the hunt now.

He had been following that nut brown squirrel for several days now. Ever since he had caught a glimpse of the golden figuring of the squirrel. Since then, he had been on that squirrel's tail, waiting for the perfect time to strike. He had almost blown his cover that morning: he had accidently stepped on a stray twig from a dead evergreen, bringing the tough squirrel on the alert. Luckily, she had mistaken something on the ground for making the noise and had moved on. He followed her for about half an hour after that; not much happened during that time, except that he had almost been hit by a flying apple core flung by the squirrel. Now she had dug out the precious gold figuring out of her harvest sack. The sight of the figuring aroused Thresher's longing for it. He had waited long enough.

He waited a few more minutes until the right side of the path broke off into a large cliff. Now was the time. He stepped out of the woodlands and confronted the squirrel. He smiled slyly, eying the precious jewel that was in the squirrels paws. "You look like your lost" he said in a level but friendly tone. "Do you need any help?"

Life is too short to rush through it.

Bryony came upon a spot in the road where there was a big cliff and a cut off in the road where it was. She needed to tread carefully as not to fall. She began to put the golden figurine back in her pack when she heard a voice.

"You look like your lost. Do you need any help?"

She glanced to the right and saw a wildcat walking right beside her. He was very tall and lithe, not very fatty at all as some wildcats are. He was a very rich ginger color with black stripes down his agile back. Surprising to the Brony, he did not speak harshly or commandingly but had more of a soft and inquisitive tone to his voice. Not really wanting to stop and discuss matters with the cat, she responded,

"I'm quite fine thank you. Now if you don't mind, I must be on my way!"

She pursued with her walk and hoped the wildcat wouldn't try to stop her again, though, to be  on the safe side, she clutched a piece of wood ling in the path, to defend herself if that was needed.
