When I was a kid, I thought I must have been adopted and that my *real* parents were awesome people somewhere out there.

When I was a kid, I thought Redwall would continue forever. :(

When I was a kid, and pretty young at the time don'tjudgeme, at one point I thought that the past was actually black and white because of photos we saw at little school of the Victorian times and such. Smart me!!! :)

When I was a kid, I thought "IGA" (as in the store) was a word, and asked what "an iga" is. My parents got really upset. ;D

You think that's bad? I watched an episode of the Simpsons where a cop asked Homer what Moe's was (as he had been drunk driving.)

kids get out reeeeeeee
Homer: It's a pornography store. I was buying pornography.
*five minutes later*
* Groddil walks up to Mum.
Me: Mum, what's pornography?

I also thought you couldn't scuba dive until you were eighteen, because Mum cooked up a lie to disguise the fact that (really) she thought it was just too expensive.

When I was a kid I thought that paying taxes, getting letters and all those incredible annoyances were a "cool thing grown ups do".

Wait, you mean taxes aren't a cool grown up thing? Man, that is a revaluation.

When I was a kid I thought the blinkers in cars automatically knew where to go rather than someone pushing the blinker.
I want the world of Tolkien,
The message of Lewis;
The adventure of Jacques,
And the heart of Milne.
But I want the originality of me.

When I was a kid I thought the traffic lights were controlled by weight sensors under the road.

When I was a kid I thought that adults actually had a clue about life. That when I got to the ages I am now I would suddenly understand all this 'grown up' stuff, and I really don't... >_<

There's a sense of responsibility to them that looked very cool to have... Now I just feel like burning down someone else's property every time I get one of them to pay.

Not weight sensors, no. But lots of lights are linked to weird electric sensors I don't understand. (Something about a big mass of steel on top of the sensor changes the way a circuit functions, thus alerting the light to the presence of a car. I think.) There are sensors!

When I was a kid, I thought vampires had hollow teeth through which they sucked blood, like giant supernatural mosquitoes.

When I was a kid I asked my mom "Did stairs exist when you were young?" :P

When I was a kid, everyone (teachers included) at my schools was always praising me and I received honors and was recognized at fancy shindigs without ever having put effort into anything, so I thought that my intelligence would make life easy. I could not have been more mistaken.

When I was a kid, I thought at least by the age of 18 or 20 I'd've grown out of my timidity/lack of confidence... Nope, these things don't happen naturally. Darn!!

When I was a kid, I thought morning sickness was something women could get even when they weren't expecting.
