Yeah. What is strawberry cordial anyway? I sounds delicious. ;D

Just squeeze yourself some strawberry juice and load it up with sugar, chill it in the fridge for a while, and I think that's what strawberry cordial is. That's just my guess, though. That's how the books always seem to describe it. The Redwall Cookbook has a recipe, I think.

Like strawberries need any more sugar.  ;D I would suspect some kind of bubbly concoction with strawberry cordial (similar to adding Sprite to punch).  Or maybe that is what strawberry fizz is....

That's what I thought, too. I'm not sure, though.

The thought of all those different pasties made my mouth water. And this is a little off topic but where do they get the milk to make the cheese from ???

In Snowfur's Redwall Encyclopedia's FAQ section (You kind find it right here: http://www.sullivanet.com/redwall/faq/rwfaq_universe.htm#rwu_dairy)
it says:

QuoteThis is a good question. There are indeed no cows or goats in Redwall. There are, however, plants that produce milk-like substances. This is what is referred to as "greensap milk". Besides, how could you have an abbeyful of mice with no cheese? ;-)

Flandor

I'm actually in the process of reading through the books for recipes and figuring them out in my kitchen :)  I'm a pretty good cook and want to attend culinary school, so this is a lot of fun for me.  So far I've made improvements to the cookbook's Shrimp and Hotroot soup, Deeper 'n ever pie, and several of the desserts.  I found brewed dandelion and burdock cordial at the store! It tastes good, fizzy and a little bittersweet.

My shrimp n' hotroot soup uses double the veggie broth (homemade), and is finished with heavy cream and a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.  The cream balances the spice out and makes it velvety in texture :)

I can post up any recipes I end up figuring out if you'd all like?

I won't be on this forum much anymore, but I'll pop in to say hi every now and then.

Turnip- n- tater- n beetroot pie, boi 'okey! When you add the cheddar cheese on top, use thick chunks so it doesn't gunk up when you bake it . Yum-yum, burr, aye!
