shisteer of nothing much

Which is probably why... actually, I'm not going to finish that thought.

Do you want to start talking about the " 'I' before 'E' rule"?

Ooohh... When I learned it, I heard a sentence consisting mostly of  the exceptions to the rule.
The sentence is as follows:
"Neither financier seized either weird species of leisure."
However, why do we let them be exceptions? If the corollary rule is "Or when sounded like 'A' as in 'neighbor' and 'weigh' ", why do we not apply the corollary rule to these exceptions? Financier and species would still escape, but the others would be:
N-A-ther, s-A-zed, A-ther, wared, and l-A-sure. (pronunciation spelling).

Colour.
Honour.
Doughnut. However, a friend of mine saw a packet of doughnuts (labelled 'doughnuts') and said that it was spelt weirdly. Tbf, she is from the Philippines.

One sentence of exceptions for the 'i before e' rule is: I before E except when you're performing a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour. I think there was more to it, but that's all I can remember.

But I mostly learn spellings just from reading books. It's not that hard, when you see a word often, to just learn the meaning and spelling without trying. And then there are the people in top set who don't know the meaning of words like 'noble'.
Error. Error. Cannot compute.

Color.
Honor.
Doughnut. I've also read it donut. But spelling is useful for puns. I've even made a fog pun in this post.

Favourite is another one that is often misspelled.
