Well, y'all were talking about the cost of your instruments a little while back, and I thought I'd chime in on that.  My clarinet (a beginner's clarinet (ugh, I really wanna buy a new one, but they're so expensive!)) cost zero dollars to GET, but to fix it, it cost at least a hundred.  (My brother got it from a friend of his, and the instrument was completely broken.  Pads needed to be fixed, cord reapplied, keys fixed... a lot of work.)  But, hey, my brother did all the work (he was going through the phase of, "Hey, I wanna be an instrument repair man as my job!"), and he did a pretty good job for a beginner.  But, recently, things have been kinda dying, so I swapped out some of the parts of my brother's OTHER clarinet with mine, and now I call it a Frankenclarinet.  :P
;D. I'm looking for a new violin now and they're expensive also.

I'm not sure buying a Double Bass right now is even physically possible for me. They're quite expensive.
Just fixing the Bow (The thingy that you rub on the string to make noise) would cost 50 to 100 dollars.
Yikes.
Hey you! What? Expecting a great quote or some heart-warming poem? Too bad, my signature is just boring. Stop reading it. Stop it. Why are you still reading it?

Lily

My flute was about $300... which is quite expensive considering that it's just a piece of bamboo with holes in it! It's fancy bamboo, though.

Really? You wouldn't think it would need to be that expensive then again though, I don't know how much bamboo is worth.

Revive!!!

I still play flute and piccolo. Dude, I love it. I want to keep playing even when I'm in college (not as a major, but more as an extra activity).

Thanks, MatthiasMan, for the avatar!

Delthion

I play violin, and sort of self-taught myself the tin whistle.
Dreams, dreams are untapped and writhing. How much more real are dreams than that paltry existence which we now call reality? How shall we ascend to that which humanity is destined? By mastering the dreamworld of course. That is how, my pupils, that is how.

Maudie

Um, self taught pianist here. I'm mostly a vocalist, though. I love to sing.

"What shall I sing today?"-That's a voice warm up. It's rather frightening to hear.

Yay! Another flute player! Do they have grades in America?

I have played the piano for about ten years. I also sing, but not as much.

You mean like first, seventh, and twelfth grades, right? Yes, I'm in eleventh grade.

I used to play piano, but my teacher went to college and I lost most of it. But I can hit some of the tunes from before. I can play this song though:
