Taste buds have nothing to do with personal preferences. If Eb and I both ate part of the same capsicum, it would taste exactly the same to her as it does to me but I'd love it and she'd hate it. Taste buds aren't there to offer opinion on what's good and what isn't.

Mmm, well people actually do taste things a bit differently.  Some people can detect certain tastes more than others, while some people can't taste well at all, and all that is based on your tongue (and your nose somewhat as well).  On the other hand, a lot of it is also in the mind, based on formative experiences when we were young.  So, you're not exactly wrong
