Mharbrow nodded, making a rolling gesture with his paw to suggest the weasel should carry on.
"Met its end? How so?"

His smirk resurfaced as Wrackfur replied, "How do yew think? They were up near Salamanderstron! Bloodclaw--er, the lead'r of th' pack--might be tough, but not enough fer them hares! Anyway, I came down the coast, and found yew two lovely parties fightin'. Thought I'd stay and watch th' show, but one o' yer crew decided I'd like t'meet yew." He shrugged, grinning lazily at Firestripe. "Ah think yew can figger out the rest."
I've been looking back over these past few months, and I've felt off. Felt different. At the time, I wanted nothing more than to go back to the good old days.
But now? Could I just ignore all the ways I've suffered and grown? Caught hold and let go? Could I return from life, having now lived?

Mharbrow frowned at the mention of the Long Patrol hares.
"Did you cover your tracks?"

Belladonna snarled inwardly. If his trail leads them here, he will die by my blade. The vixen promised herself.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Mharbrow caught Belladonna's slight, unconscious movement out of the corner of his eye. She was clearly ready to slay the weasel should he answer that no, he hadn't covered his tracks. Catching the vixen's gaze, he shook his head almost imperceptibly, sending a silent message to the healer.
Don't kill him. He could be useful, especially if those overgrown bunnies turn up.

Belladonna released the handle of her dagger, tilting her head slightly in recognition of her captain's decision. But she did not move her paw far from the hilt of her weapon.

Wrackfur opened his mouth to speak, but bit down on his lip. "Stupid cap'ns and their stupid questions" He hadn't covered his tracks; he left before the attack even happened! There was no way to miss the sounds of the battle, though. He forced his smirk to return.
"Ach, I know how t'get through th' forest! They haven't found me yet!

Mharbrow turned and began issuing orders.
"Sliteye, get the prisoners on their feet and tie them together so they can march. Cutsnip, Tornpatch, cover any sign of the battle and follow along behind to cover our tracks when we leave. Everybeast form up, we're moving out. Firestripe and Wrackfur, you're up the front with me."
Mharbrow's eyes narrowed as he met the weasel's gaze.
"You better know how to get through the forest. Don't play me false, weasel. Your life hangs as much in the balance as ours does."

Sliteye cleared his throat to catch the captain's attention.
"Ready t'march, Cap'n."

Mharbrow nodded and laid a paw on Wrackfur's shoulder, leading him to the head of the column and positioning him between himself and Webneck.
"Right, Let's go. Down sail! Out oars! March!"

Belladonna had anticipated her captain's orders and moved to the fire, kicking sand over it and slinging her herb bag over her shoulder. She checked that the strap did not impede the use of her sabre and walked to join Mharbrow and Firestripe.
"Where do you want me, Captain Dyemhar?" she asked softly.

Firestripe's eye narrowed as he bristled with anger, not only at the news that Wrackfur might be leading an army towards them, but at his ludicrously flippant demeanor as well.  Wrapping his claws around the weasels throat, Firestripe pushed him hard against the rock behind him and snarled into his face.  "You best watch your attitude, weasel."

He had more words to say, but stopped as Sliteye cleared his throat and called out, "Ready t'march, Cap'n."

Firestripe reluctantly released Wrackfur with a growl and watched as the captain pushed him to the front.  With a sigh, he calmed himself down and followed after them, smoothing the fur down on his face and putting his eye-patch back in place as he walked.  He didn't look forward to marching, but they didn't have much choice at this point.  As Belladonna joined them, he thought back and wondered if he should have taken up the offer to get some herbs for the pain in his leg.  It was too late now though; he'd just have to grit his teeth and bear it.

The weasel rubbed his neck where the fox grasped it. He was stronger than he looked. Grabbing his axe from where the captain dropped it and sliding it through a loop of cord at his belt, he turned to the fox, saying, "Awight; time fer my questions. What's yer name, and tha cap'ns?"

Acking as he was pulled to his feet Tul did his best to try and help his fellow crewbeasts up to their footpaws as well. But some of them were either too weary or too large for him to really help. But being jabbed with spear butts and smacked with sword sides soon got them up. And the colum started to shakily make its way off...Toward the forest?

Sure seemed that way. The rat just keeping quiet as the prisoners were led off. They were still alive. That was good. He hoped they could keep it that way.

shisteer of nothing much

Mharbrow's eyes narrowed as he heard Wrackfur address his first mate. The weasel still sounded much too sure of himself and Mharbrow could introduce himself if the beast wanted to know his name.
"If you want to know my name, you could ask me directly, rather than pretending I'm not walking right beside you."

Wrackfur jolted when the captain spoke. These sands made beasts too quiet, in his opinion. Still, the cap'n sounded annoyed, but not bristly. He decided to lay off goading him.
"Mos' cap'ns-- corsair er not-- don't talk to a measly weasel. What is yer name, then, cap'n? And," Wrackfur nodded over to the third fox in the line, "Tha' herbalist can interduce herself if she wants. Seein' as ye know mah name, o'course." Wrackfur glanced ahead at the approaching forest and back at the three foxes.

OOC:They're all foxes, right?

Ebantu the Kararehe

OOC: Yes. Mharbrow, Firestripe and Belladonna are all foxes.

Receiving no answer to her question, Belladonna fell into step slightly behind Firestripe and Mharbrow. She gave Wrackfur a disinterested glance. "I am Belladonna Redblade, and thinking I am merely a herbalist is a mistake that could well prove fatal."
