Disaster in the Kitchens! (Corn's 10,000th celebration RP!)

  Teer smiled, taking a moment to watch Tinarandel at his work. He quite clearly knew what he was doing.
  "Thanks, Tin."
  Going into Cavern Hole, the otter approached the table where Dann had left the scrolls, picking up a quill and dipping it into a pot of ink, her lips pursed in thought as her paw hovered over the paper.

OOC: @lass of something much Anything you want to say to her. This whole event is really just to celebrate the time she's spent here, and the things she's brought to the forum because of it. We're celebrating her. So, if you have kind words for her , I'm compiling them to give to her as one combined message.

       The moment Teer had left the kitchens, a hare wondering by attempted to seize the opportunity to enter the kitchens. Dann stood in his way, ladle pointing threateningly, still dripping with soup, "You so much as take another step in and so 'elp me I'll make a right mess 'o the place me'self and blame it on you, ye'll be in twice the trouble, and thrice that once Miz Teer 'ears about it!"

  Teer gave a sigh of satisfaction, reading through the message. It was only a quick one. There wasn't time to do something hugely long-winded. Placing the quill back where she'd found it, the otter gathered up some dishes and headed back to the kitchen, passing the resident hare on the way passed.
  "Long face, that. I imagine you've just been to the kitchen and they wouldn't let you in? Good on them. Make yourself useful and sweep Cavern Hole, will you?"
  Not waiting for a reply, the chef swept into the kitchen, depositing her load by the washing tub and pulling the scones from the oven.

       Corn smiled down at Lass and pet her head gently. "Indeed we are. We'll get you all cleaned up and your scrapes washed as Kade tells you a story, and then we'll get a nice lunch out by the pond. And maybe, if you're super good, you'll get a candied chestnut or two while we're up there!" The squirrel was still distracted by Jared and the mystery surrounding the kitchens - Did something burn? Why is everybeast in the kitchens, and why does it seem like there's so much work to be done? - but made an attempt to shake it off. Clearly, it was either under control or getting there and Lass was more important at the moment.

        She turned to Jarky as the salamaxalotlhare walked up and blinked. "Goodness. That does sound rather crowded and uncomfortable. Come on up to the infirmary with me and the little miss here and we'll see what we can do, yeah?"

[Kade Rivok]

Kade nodded sagely and started walking towards the infirmary, gesturing for Corn and Jarky to follow.  "Indeed indeed.  Perhaps the story I'll be telling to the little Lass here will also help put those pesky personalities to sleep?  One can hope as much, at the very least.  Either who, let us be off!"

[Tinarandel]

Jared transferred the raw fish from the wooden board onto a metal baking pan and carefully inserted it inside the last available oven. It had already been preheated to 350 degrees, so Jared set the timer to 6 minutes. He straightened up and removed his oven mitts and returned them to their drawer. Then he set about cleaning up, washing, and putting away his cooking utensils and tools. After he finished, he shed his apron and replaced it back on its hook.

He bowed graciously to everyone else. "Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to help out with this exciting and heartwarming event. If there's nothing else I need to do, I'll be off looking for my fish books now."

Jared shuffled his sandals and sped off towards the Library.

       A fair amount of time had passed, Corn had been gone for awhile, the kitchens and halls were mostly cleaned, and the food was almost prepped. Dann took this opportunity to run out and gather the parchments, hiding himself away as he scrawled his own message so he could finish assembling them. It wasn't long after that he was done, soon followed by the finished preparations. The feast was clearly going to be a bit... rougher, than normal, but at least it was clean and plentiful, "Hey, has anybeast gone to summon Corn and the others yet?"

  Teer added the finishing touch, a sprig of peppermint, to the dish she had been working on and looked up, smiling at the finished dishes. At least they had a meal now.
  "I don't think so. I'm finished with this, should I go fetch them while the servers lay things out on the table?"
  The otter needed some time to get herself back under control and maybe smooth down some fur. At the moment she'd probably be sight enough to spook a badger, with fluff sticking up in all directions and a good portion of berry juice spilled down her front. If she didn't have time to clean herself up, she'd eat in the kitchen. Nobeast would see her turn up to the table in this state.

       Dann shrugged in response, "You're the boss roun' ere ma'am, I'd do it meself, but I don't want 'er catchin wind o' the surprise." He started mentally checking his own appearance as he spoke, coming to the sudden realization that he probably wasn't much better off than the head cook.

       Corn held onto Lass's paw tightly as they left the Infirmary with the little ottersquirrel all patched up and in new clothes. They were starting to draw close to the stairs and knowing Lass, she'd find a way to throw herself down them if Corn didn't keep a careful eye on her. "So, now that we're all cleaned up, what do you say we grab a real lunch and eat out by the pond?"

With a massive grin that exposed her missing tooth Lass nodded, as if nothing had happened. "Then you tell a S'ory?"
Lass looked down again as they took the steps, she made sure to take them one by one so as not to trip, then after the steps the littleotter squirrel broke into a skip, hamming as she did so. "Le's go wewy fas' so we don' miss  out!" Tugging at Corn's paw as she skipped faster.

  Smoothing her head fur, Teer made her way to the stairs, feeling significantly less frazzled now that she had some clean clothes on. She smiled as the recognised the voice of little Lass. Hopefully the young one had also found a clean smock.
  Rounding a corner, the otter smiled as she took in the little group of beasts.
  "Ah, hello. I was just looking for you lot. Time for food."

Jarky jogged to catch up with Corn and Lass. "How can you little dibbuns run so FAST?!" she panted, skidding along the carpeted floor.

       "Congratulations on 10,000!" Great Hall erupted in noise and cheer as Corn and her small entourage of conspirators arrived from the Infirmary. There was much paw shaking and exchanging of greetings before the room quieted down enough to think again. It didn't take Dann much time at all to spot his friend, and he soon found himself beside the squirrelmaid, albeit, now feeling much more bashful. Despite his trepidation, he forced himself forward, offering the parchment, "S'scuse me miss Corn? I just thought uuuh, well... Here! 'Tis a gift from the rest of us to you in celebration of your accomplishment!"

       Corn had been taken completely by surprise as she entered Great Hall, and her eyes grew a bit misty as she was surrounded by her favorite people. "Awwwww, you guys! Thank you so much! You really didn't have to go through all of this for me." She took the parchment from Dann and unrolled it, quickly becoming drawn into the contents.

       After a few moments she looked up again with a tear rolling down her cheek and a large smile on her face. "Thank you guys, I really appreciate it. Love y'all."




OOC: Okay but seriously - Thank you guys, so much. This RP has been a blast and all y'all's kind messages really did make me a bit misty. It means the world to me to have y'all as friends.
