The tiny child seemed quite exited at the idea of a picnic, and not so exited about being cleaned up which, in the ottersquirrel's experience entailed a bath. "I's fine, Lady Cornf'ower! My wobe is fine, it dust a bit..." Lass glanced down at the dirty, and ripped things she had just called ropes and pondered for a second or two..."Messy...."

Sebias of Redwall

Sebias glanced down at Lass then back up to Corn. "Uh... Alright, then. I'll come with you both."

Jared Sandeye entered Cavern Hole wearing his white sailor's suit complete with a blue ribbon in a knot and navy trousers. He had just come straight from the Library. "Hey, does anyone know where the record books on the various types of fish in the Abbey pond went? They've been pilfered from the Library and I've been looking all over for - Whoa!" His eyes widened at the sheer mess around the Kitchens. "What happened here? Who's responsible for this food mess? I thought we were professionals!"

"Ve are!" Header said, still on the ceiling. "Ve're alzae profezzionalz at makin' a vee mezz tae boot!" He had managed to clean most of the flans and pasties off the ceiling, but there were still a couple left. If all of this wasn't for Cornflower, they might have asked her for help. She was always so good at organising things and keeping them in order. @Dannflower Reguba

shisteer of nothing much

Glaring at Hiag, Teer pointed to the ground, footpaw tapping impatiently.
"Hiag, come down from there. We don't want to have to clean up splattered blood and guts as well as all this mess. TinTin, I have no idea where your fishing records are. Maybe ask our champion. He's gone to the pond to get some more fish."
Sighing in frustration, the otter flicked her ladle at a paw straying too close to the flagon of Strawberry cordial and continued her work as best she could.

Kade Rivok

Kade inspected the infant as Corn spoke of taking her to the infirmary.  "Oh, aye.  The little 'un does seem to have a scrape or two, does she not?"  He then smiled gently at the small creature.  "I'll tell you what, me little Lass, if you be a good dibbun and go to the infirmary with us, I'll give you a turnover and tell you of a tale called 'The Golden Mouse and the Ottermaid'.  How does that sound?"

Jared threw his arms up in the air in resignation. "All right, fine, if no one wants to help me, then I'll just do this myself!" He pivoted on his heels and picked up a mop and bucket, and began painstakingly cleaning up as much of the food mess as he could. "I'll look for my fish records later; this is the real priority right now! If we just catch more fish, it'll create more messes!"

He began by mopping the short staircase that separated Cavern Hole from the main halls of the Abbey. Looking up at Header, he added, "Now just how in the name of Martin did you get up there?"

The little otter-squirrels eyes widened and she nodded several times, a big grin spreading across her bruised and battered face, making her missing tooth ever more noticeable. "Mhm! I be weally good!"

Throwing her head back with a laugh, Corn tickled Lass's stomach briefly. "I'm sure you will. Your smile is gonna be precious when we get you cleaned up." She walked back up the stairs and went to poke Kade. "Move outta the way, you big lug."

Cleaning the last of the flans and pasties from the ceiling (finally), Header sighed. This was the biggest mess they had had recently- and most of the other ones were in the Cellars. He waited after Teer had commented to him, and when she looked away for a moment he briefly stuck his tongue out at her.

He looked down from the ceiling at Jared. "Ah'm actually nae quoite zure. Vone minute Ah 'ad me footpavz on ze ground, ze next..." He tapped his mop on the ceiling twice to indicate what had happened next, but suddenly whatever was keeping his footpaws on the ceiling let him go, and he crashed to the floor.

He managed fortunately not to break or injure anything, but it was still a loud fall. "...Zat." he finished saying to Jared. "Except backvardz vertically." He dusted himself off, and stood up. "Vell, on tae ze next zin' tae clean!" he said, picking up his mop, which had fallen back down with him, and started cleaning another area of the kitchen that was in need of it.

The little otter squealed with delight and giggled, as she curled up slightly, seeming not to notice her wounds at all, alas, this was not the case, or at least, not for long, but the tiny dibbun had seen her older sister and Scott laughing and grinning when they were hurt, so she did the same. Little did she know that they were laughing because of her, Lass simply thought it wouldn't hurt so much when she would be a big warrior.

The salad was about ready to be tossed, so Dann handed it off to one of the present volunteers before seeking out Teer again, "Salads about sorted, what needs doin' post haste?.. Oh, have you perchance had an opportunity ta get out yet? Corn's papers and whatnot."

OOC: Just a reminder, we've got about one more week, don't forget to stop by the table In Character and write something down if you would like to leave a message for Cornflower!

"Vell, on tae ze next zin' tae clean!" he said, picking up his mop, which had fallen back down with him, and started cleaning another area of the kitchen that was in need of it.

Jared instinctively jumped backward as Header came falling down from the ceiling, almost tripping over his mop bucket behind him. But he righted his posture just in time and wiped his brow in relief. "Well, as long as you're okay, that's what matters." He helped Header dust himself off before returning to his task. When the stairs were finished, he moved to the main floor of Cavern Hole, trying to mop up as much as he could.

He shrugged cluelessly at everyone else and scoffed in sarcastic amusement. "This is a downright terrible mess we've made, probably the worst debacle of the Kitchens ever recorded in Abbey history! Well done, everyone; well done, indeed! Perhaps I should include fish on the list? Would you like me to scrub the tables with a freshly-caught raw trout, too?"

Ebantu the Kararehe

Ebantu hesitated for a moment before shrugging and rolling up her sleeves. She pulled open the oven and her eyes widened. "Er, Teer? I think removing the pasty might be a bit harder than you thought. It appears to have sort of...well, exploded."
She backed away from the oven, muttering "I think I'll let you deal with this," and grabbed a large metal saucepan, filling it with food scraps from around the kitchen.
"I'm taking this out to the compost bins," the wildcat called to Shisteer as she carefully made her way to the door and exited the Abbey building.
She almost collided with Cornflower and quickly signaled for the squirrel to go first. Ebantu winced as she saw Lass.
"What happened to you, little missy?"
Infant Ebby is a smol, out-of-control firebending terror. It's a good thing she's also quite cute.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Sebias of Redwall

Sebias followed Corn and Lass, throwing a glance at Kade and mouthed the words: "Help me keep an eye on her." Catching up, Sebias turned to Lass. "Hey, maybe Corn will tell you a nice long story while you're in the Infirmary! And if you behave, maybe we'll all go fishing afterwards!"
