Pots can be made of iron. They'd rust, unless painted or something *says, with a science book right next to me that I know has a page on preventing corrosion that I'm too lazy to look at*.

Interestingly, controlled rusting can be used to prevent future (uncontrolled) rusting.

Rusting is only for iron (corrosion is for all metals). Rust flakes off, but one way to prevent rust is to use a sacrificial metal such as aluminium which will form a protective layer when it corrodes as aluminium oxide doesn't flake off like rust does.

While I knew that, since rust is Ferric corrosion, it makes no sense to say that other metals rust, if they just do so differently.
