I am a massive metal fan, believe it or not. Doom, sludge, and post-metal are my main digs, with a sprinkling of black metal and metalcore. A few favourites off the top of my head: Bell Witch, AMENRA, Chat Pile, Sugar Horse, Boris, Loathe, King Woman, Sumac, System of a Down, Panopticon, Agalloch, Converge, Power Trip, and a lot more but I need to stop at some point.

Also love a few metal-adjacent 'dark' artists like Chelsea Wolfe, Emma Ruth Rundle, Lingua Ignota, Uboa etc.

Tinarndel, I too enjoy Opeth and Cattle Decapitation (despite being vegan).
Received mostly negative reviews.

Daniel, you have excellent tastes in music! I've heard of SOAD, Panopticon, Converge, and Power Trip; but haven't listened to much of their music.

And it's great to find another Opeth and Cattle Decap fan!

I got into Opeth through their Sorceress album. I also really enjoyed Orchid and Ghost Reveries. I can't wait for The Last Will and Testament!

As for Cattle Decap, my first album I heard was Death Atlas, and Terrasite is phenomenal.

Opeth are playing in my city next year, hoping to make that one, should be a pretty cool show. I think Sorceress is what introduced me to them too, but I mostly enjoy their earlier work like Morningrise!

You lucky beast! I envy you! That sounds like it's going to be an absolutely epic show!!!

I gave Ghost Reveries a thorough listen this year, top to bottom. I was absolutely blown away by it!  :o My feelings for it are utterly impossible to put into words. The Last Will and Testament is mindblowing! It sounds Opeth's definitive artistic statement, incorporating elements from all of their previous albums and amalgamating them into this one. Honestly, if this was Opeth's final album before they decided to call it quits, I'd be perfectly content with that. This is the perfect album for them to go out on.
