Throwing things in an opponents eyes may not be noble, but be realistic for a minute.  Say you get into a fight, and your opponent is trying to kill you.  Say you only have two options - die, or throw sand in your opponent's face to blind them.  Really honestly truly, what are you going to do?  In a fight to the death, it's not your job to be honorable and fair, with certain exceptions in rare circumstances, of course.

I never said that Mariel is a coward, what I said was that the tactic she used is usually considered cowardly. Still waiting for someone to tell me a time when Dandin, Tarquin, or Durry did anything.
Dandin and Durry helped form the TRAG force.
Tarquin spotted the sea when they were stuck in the swamp.
Tarquin rescued Durry from the pike.

I wouldn't say those three sat there doing nothing the whole book.

Gabool was hardly a fighter, he used traps to win

The TRAG force was already in existence
Tarquin spotted the sea? big woop!
And TARQUIN rescued DURRY... Notice one of the nuisiances rescued another.

Gabool could fight, he was just sly and enjoyed ironic deaths.

They helped save ships to form the TRAG force.
Yes, it was a big woop, they'd been stuck in the swamp for a long time and everyone was exhausted!
What?  So what if one of them rescued their friend?

Dannflower Reguba

No they didn't, TRAG got the ships themselves
Tarquin isn't the only one who has eyes
Notice that if Mariel went ALONE they wouldn't have had the problem in the first

Wow, I was commenting on the fact that Mariel was presented as an invulnerable character (which she apparently is) and that was why I greatly dislike her... Now this.

They were part of the TRAG force, which took over ships to use.
Tarquin's the one who climbed the tree and saw the ocean.
Do you honestly think Mariel could have made the entire trip on her own?

That's just it. SHE COULDN'T HAVE MADE THE TRIP ON HER OWN!!! No one could! But Mariel is used as if she could have done by herself (which she pretty much does except there are creatures there with her)

Mariel is headstrong, she was going to go by herself but the others insisted on coming.

I'm done with this argument.  You don't like Mariel, I do.  We can't change each other's opinions.  I'm done.

Hehee, remember Dippler saying that shrews need to debate?
I guess he taught us the difference between arguing and debating.

Shrews are so weird.
There's a part in Rakkety Tam when the shrews are trying to move a fallen tree and they all argue over the best way to move it, until Log-a-Log screams, "SHUT UP!!!"
Really funny on the audiobook.  :D

I don't remember that, but I haven't read some of the books recently.  What's the windmill?
