Welcome to the first role play contest! This Role Play is set up for members to show case their role playing abilities and have a chance at winning the first role play award.

Prizes:
Grand prize: A picture of a character of your choice (artist:BrookSkimmer) and the option to help come up with the plot for the next RP awards. Logo of position to add to your signature.
First prize: Logo of position to add to your signature.
Second: Logo of position to add to your signature.
Third: Logo of position to add to your signature.

Players in this RP will be marked by BrookSkimmer, Osu, Lily, and Redwall Musician on the following:
Creativity (in the bounds of the RP)
SPAG (spelling and grammar)
Quality of post (does not need to be long but must keep the reader's attention and add to the plot)
Congruency of post (how well post fits in with story line and other posts)
Overall quality of role play

Players will be awarded points at the bottom of the last post made during the week. Points will be edited into the posts by the judges. Player with the most points at the scheduled end of the RP will win the competition.

I am by no means an "expert" at Redwall role play, however I have been a part of the ROC for years and have a good feel for well written posts.  I hope that this contest will help role players on this site to grow in their enjoyment role playing. I also hope that this contest will help role players improve in their writing abilities.

RULES:
Please DO NOT sign up for this RP unless you can post AT LEAST twice a week.

The judges will read posts and decide on points once a week.

If posting more than once a day the writer must signify at the beginning of their post, which post they want to have counted for points. Only one post a day will be judged for points. However, if more than one quality post is presented extra posts will be counted in the 'overall quality of role play" section.

Please read through the thread entitled: "Roleplaying Basics and Rules" written by Taggerung of Redwall in the role playing section for a complete list of rules. The conduct described in this post will be expected in the RP contest thread.

This RP will be Redwall "canon" i.e. nothing that does not exist throughout Brain Jaques' novels will be permitted. Ex. species, weapons...

Please PM your request to enter to BrookSkimmer. After request is viewed you will be asked to write out your character's description. Description will also count for points and can be posted in this thread once you are accepted into the contest. Any descriptions posted without prior entry by PM to Brookskimmer will be deleted.


Role Play Description:
The Long Patrol: Greenhorn's Challenge
Setting: Beginning at Salmandastron. After leaving the mountain, patrol lead along the shore and into the dune lands. A skirmish with a band of foxes that are holding a group of hedgehogs captive will occur. After this, patrol takes to the forest and ends up back at the mountain.
Plot: Greenhorns are taken on a training run by General Haley Buckpaw and other ranking officials of the Long Patrol. They begin along the shore line and head for the dune lands. From here training becomes real as a skirmish occurs against a middle sized band of foxes. The foxes are holding a large group of hedgehogs hostage. After hoedghogs are freed, hares stay over for a day with the recued captives. After this the group heads into the forest and then returns, trained in real battle, to the mountain.

Hureth the Gray: Ruler of Salamandastron

Gender: Male
Weapons: Oaken spear
Description: Middle seasoned badger lord. Called "The Gray" due to his fur coloring. Hureth's fur is a mixing of white and black causing gray to cover his body. He has no discernable stripes, making his eyes stand out darkly on his face. He is skilled with his oaken spear and net but his real skills lay in writing and creating ballads. He is well respected and loved by all members of the Long Patrol. His strong right paw is Haley Buckpaw.

Haley Buckpaw: General of the Long Patrol

Weapon(s): Rapier, dirk
Description: General Buckpaw is a black hare who watched over Salamandastron as leader upon the death of old Lord Bretten. Seasons later when Hureth appeared she immediately began to serve him and his been his General and chief adviser ever since. She is charged by Hureth to lead a group of greenhorns on their first campaign away from Salamandastron.

Description: He is in his middle seasons and often teaches the younger ones how to box.

Color Sergeant Kodlak Longblade

Gender:Male
Weapons:A steel sabre with a velvet black handle and 'Eulalia' embossed into the one edged blade. A leveret dagger handed down to him by his father, he rarely uses it apart from emergencys and keeps it in a brown leather sheath.
Description:Kodlak is a brown hare with a snowy white tail. Kodlak is the all bark no bite colour sergeant, he is widely know for his skill with weapons but mainly with a sabre, he is a true salamandastron hare and is a noble warrior.

Weapon: long basket-hilt rapier.
Description:
Phireem is a younger hare with jagged dark orange and black stripes of fur running all across his body.
Not as fast at running as some of the others, he will never be a Runner, but is learning the art of swordplay very quickly and is already very good.
Phireem is a shy hare who will not talk very much except for when he is around his friends. (who happen to be accompanying him...)
Phireem is respectful and obedient to his superiors and normally keeps his thoughts to himself.

Weapon(s): A fancy sword with gold and silver streaks running throughout. Usually it is across her back. Also has skills in paw to paw combat.
Description: She is a very headstrong hare who wants to impress her father (probably left at Salamadstron). She is young about maybe 17 in human years and is pretty good at the blade.

Weapons: Sabre (which was once her mother's) and a sling
Description: Her fur is sandy-colored and her eyes are green.
She is very nervous over her first run. She is the daughter of two warriors and her mother died in battle. She often wonders if she has the courage to fight and perhaps die for a good cause. Maybe we'll find out...

Name: Daniel.
Species: Vole.
Role in RP: A vole the hares come across who offers them the shelter of his home and food. Goes on to travel with them to experience the outside world.
Gender: Male.
Age: Quite young still, about 24 in human years.
Other: Solitary, short tempered and stubborn. Not brave at all. Despite his negative character traits, he is still considered one of the "good guys".
