I imagine it is supposed to be the attics, somehow. The model isn't supposed to be a full-scale recreation though, so I don't hold to it much. My personal envisionment of the Abbey is largely abstract, so concrete interpretations always look off to me.

Now that I look around, the cover of the US Firebird edition of Redwall, square wall towers are clearly shown. However, artwork like that isn't canon, and I still don't think Jacques ever mentioned their existence.

According to the map in Redwall which Jacques originally sketched, the gate of Great Hall appears to face to the South.

That's great, its so hard to find which source you want to trust. I will go by that one, thanks for the info!

I will put up some work at the end of my work day so people can finally see what I'm doing

i got the impression from outcast of redwall the abbey pond was in the north-east corner

ok i think that the pond is in the southeast corner the garden is basicly right in the middle of the east wall and the orchard is in the northern east wall get what i'm saying its just how i thought it was

Can anybody find a quote from the books to help work out where the pond is exactly please? It would really help. Do you have The Taggerung to hand to check please?

Here are the models I have started to make so far. They are all grey at the moment and will stay like that until I have them all set up in their places properly.
These are just blockout models- a basic model that I make at the start to make sure everything looks good together before I spend time making them look really good.

If you click on the images then you will be able to see them bigger.

Skipper

Wow! those look amazing even though they aren't coloured in, can't wait until your finished

s_purs

Thanks, the only thing that is slowing me down is working out where everything is located in the Abbey- so everytime you guys help me/answer questions it speeds me up.

So when we work out where the pond and orchards are- with a quote from a book so we don't have 2 different ideas- then that will help even more :)

its really good to me just to make sure to connect everything it mainly has spiral stairs which have two different ways to go up
Fun. is a fantastic band.

Two different ways to go up?

Thank you.

I work for Frontier Developments, and we make games aimed at kids/families with a painty style, so hopefully that will help me make this- though my aim is to make it more gritty than a young kids book, to reflect the violence in the books.

I have recently worked on Kinect Disneyland Adventures and Kinectimals Now With Bears, along with adverts such as the Honda Jazz This Unpredictable Life.
The style will be a mix of those but with a bit of grit from games like Gears Of War.

That would be interesting but, please don't make too bad. something Modern warfare2 would be best, not to much but not to little.

What do you meam by too bad? And do you want it to look like modern warfare?
It wont look anything like that, i want it to be stylised, not realistic like modern warfare

Oh ok cool, that makes sense. Yeah, I haven't decided the final style of it, but it wont be over the top gritty. I just dont want it to be cute and cuddly like a kids game

if you have a spiral steps then there would be two ways to take the steps one left and one right i read it in the serie somewhere i think doomwyte

also in the front of the abbey i saw that you had put two towers infront of the main gate. i haven't read of that in the books yet so i was wondering since I've know that it was just a cottage next to the gate.

The gatehouse is in the grounds. It was only a family residence periodically. It was generally, from Outcast of Redwall to Rogue Crew, a gatehouse.

Such towers make some good sense, and are featured in most models and covers.

The pond, in the canonical map in Redwall, is in the southwest corner. Also, in Redwall, Cluny dug under the wall and near this. Not sure what chapter.

Just a brief post.
