After the Sergeant's move Haley drew her blade and bounded into the right. She came between the two in one swift movement. Her blade whipped around as she sought to counter Kodlak's final strike.

"Halt!"

The word resounded around the circle, bringing the cheering to a stop. She nodded to Menzy and Kodlak.

"Uncover yer weapons and stow em' wot!" She turned and winked at the Sergeant before walking over to Menzy. The black hare looked the recruit up and down and then turned to address the others.

"Seems by this fight that weapons training hasn't been completely wasted on you lot wot!"

She sheathed her blade and began to walk towards the forest. Looking back over her shoulder she called to Kodlak.

"Tell em' teh git those packs on their backs and git up off their hunkers wot! his is a training run, not a bloomin' daisy chain!"

Haley came upon Wildpaw and the vole after a few paces. She eyed the creature and spoke to him calmly.

"Whot ho me chappie. Whot's a vole like yerself want with the Long Patrol eh?"

As she poke the General's eyes went to Wildpaw. He did not look well at all. She spoke to him out of the side of her mouth."

"I say Wildpaw me bucko, are you ill sah?"

RatBane

Doing as commanded she pulled the javelin in to a resting position and smiled at Kodlak. "I have to say good show chap. I rather enjoyed that." She extend her paw to him to shake  before she lifted her pack to her shoulder.

She looks over to the vole that Haley and Wildpaw were talking to as she got back in line next to the others. She leans over to Phireem.

"What did I tell you bucko, I know there was something wrong. Bonkers I heard, well now you'll pay attention more to your surroundings wot. My feelings are spot on I'll bet."

She eyes Wildpaw a bit with concern.

Kodlak grinned and shook Menzy's paw 'Nothing better then a jolly old spar to keep you on your toes Wot!' Kodlak put the cloth into his haversack and ook a sip of elderberry cordial, he sat on a rock, slowly regaining his breath he got up and went over to where General Haley Buckpaw was talking to a vole and Segeant Wildpaw

Phireem clapped. "I say, good show! Good job, Menzy!" Unobtrusively he noticed the conversation between the vole and the sergeant and thought to himself, 'I wonder if that chap is who I saw before...'

Mad Maudie

"Phireem, you say that about everyone! and besides he looks worn out. Have you seen a worn out vole anytime lately?" Without waiting for a reply she went on "I didn't think so! Hey Coddle! Good show to bad she took my advice Wot!" Junebud said ducking behind Menzy hoping he would not get mad at her.
Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need
Chasing relentlessly and I don't know why
If our love's tragedy why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity why are you my clarity?
Why are you my clarity?

Daniel (for he was the vole) was a little bit intimidated at first, but relaxed slightly after seeing the hares meant no harm. However, being naturally wary, he didn't drop his guard. His voice was more confident than he felt as he addressed the hares standing before him. "Er-good day sirs. My name is Daniel. I live a solitary life by the River Mossa in a little hidden sort of den. As you no doubt have noticed, I am a water vole. Er-just this morning I was attacked by a gang of foxes..." At this point, Daniel could no longer keep his confident act up, and he started to cry. A distinct sob in his voice now, he continued.
"They took everything! All my food, all my possessions, everything! And, well, I was just wondering if...if..." Here, he took a deep breathe and dried his eyes before continuing.
"If there was anyway you could help me find them. I can do plenty in return. My home is not too far away and I could offer you shelter for the night. There is plenty of room. I can cook quite well, so provided you have ingredients on you I could cook up some good food. Even if you don't, I live by a river, so I could always do a spot of fishing or some foraging. So... Do you think you could help?"
Received mostly negative reviews.

"Oh hey now you scallywag I don't want the Sargent mad at me lets use Phireen." she grabs him and put him in front of her between the Sargent and smiles over her shoulder.

She could her the conversation between the officers and vole and felt a bit sorry for the little bucko it must have been hard to watch them vermin rumage through your stuff and push him around. Her ears did perk up at the sound of a free meal.

"Phireen, June you hear that free meal. I like the sound of that chaps."

"Menzy!" Dawnflower exclaimed, "Can't you think of anything besides food! He was attacked! We should help him without expecting payment!"
Then she thought about it and smiled, "Although...that does sound kind of good!"

"Ill in the mind, marm, nothing right now," Wildpaw muttered back. He took a deep breath of fresh air, shook himself, and stood up straight. He hoped he didn't look too tired. "Oh, well that does sound rather bad, wot! But there's no need to cry over it, chap. We'll help you, that's for sure."

Wildpaw reached into his tunic and pulled out a dainty hankie. He handed it to the vole, Danieal. "Here, dry your eyes."

He turned his attention to the recruits behind him. "Now, then, I want you all in two straight lines. June and Dawnflower, you can lead the lines. I want your eyes front, shoulder back, chin in and chest out. No muttering or complaining, wot. Be ready for further order from the General." He hoped that maybe he could keep his mind off of his pounding head

"Oh! You poor creature!" Junebud cried running up to the vole and hugging him. In one of her rare emotional moments. "Of course we'll help! i hate foxes!" Calming herself down she returned to her normal self "Of course I, always hated the filthy, murdering, poor excuses for animals wot!" she said regaining her composure.

The General eyed Junebud severely as she took her spot back in the ranks. Deep down she felt the same way as the young hare but traditions needed to be upheld. She was glad Wildpaw had the sense to get the recruits in order.

"I'll say where we'll be going and what we'll jolly well be doin' miss Junebud wot! Keep that up an' you'll find yerself on a fizzer!"

She then turned to the vole and spoke curtly to him.

"Bally foxes yah say eh? Nevah could stand the blighters." She winked at Daniel and then cast her eyes about the area. They were at the fringe of the woods and it was going on late in the afternoon.

"If they plundered you and went on their way they probably didn't go too far wot! I'll wager they're still in the area, cookin' up the vittles they stole from ye."

She sniffed the air and kept talking. "I don't smell any smoke from cooking fires around 'er, however I'm sure they'll be somewhere around these woods."

The General turned to her recruits. "Listen up me jolly lot! We'll be droppin' in on a vermin dinner party before long. I want you silent and on the alert. If it comes to fighting stay back. The Sargeants and myself will handle that part owt! Can't take ye back to lord Hureth cut up by vermin."

She patted Daniel on the shoulder. "Feel up to comin' along mate?"

Phireem glanced over his shoulder at Menzy. Shaking his head, he commented, "Aye, I heard about the blinkin' meal, but it isn't free, If we're up to fight some Bally foxes." He looked down at his rapier  "Aye, It will be bloomin' far from free."

Icefire

Dawnflower shivered at his tone and touched her weapons. The sling was a gift from her father; the sabre was once her mother's. She thought of her mother's bravery and again wondered if she could also stand firm no matter the cost. "I guess I'll soon see" she murmured.

OOC: Please use this post for judging. Thanks.

Daniel stared deeply in to the eyes of the General. They were deep, compassionate, yet firm and ready for battle. He had never really seen eyes like that. He could find comfort in them, and yet they flared up the warrior inside him. He could tell this would begin a long friendship, not just with the General, but with all the Long Patrol hares. He could help but feel safe in their company, despite the fact most of them were quite young. They were slowly drawing him out of his protective shell with their carefree manner.

The vole then drew his eyes away and started pawing at his sling. It wasn't the best quality, and he couldn't help but feel envious of the hares, with their beautiful blades. But, it would have to do. He slowly looked back up, and simply nodded once. "I'm coming," he said firmly. "I have a score to settle."
Received mostly negative reviews.

Menzy nods to both Dawnflower and Phireem.

"Well I say we drop in on there little party chaps and teach these blighters that they jolly well can't mess with friends of the long patrol."

She turns to the general.

"Marm permission to scout ahead in search of these bally foxes wot." She stands with her javelin and winks to the vole.
