Yes,  but some snakes really can hypnotize.
Martin the Warrior is way more epic than Mickey Mouse. Anyone who says otherwise is insane, or just wrong.

I didn't like Ublaz too much, I had a nightmare about him.Only he was scarier than in the book.Dreams do that.

I think that 1) Ublaz was AWESOME!!! And, 2) he did have powers. Despite there being no official religion in the Redwall world, you do have spirits like Martin the Warrior who live on forever and interact with creatures. If you think about Ublaz's powers with this in mind, hypnosis doesn't seem too far-fetched, does it?
