Ashe stared into the fire vacantly for a short time, then said, "Not really much of anything to tell," He said dryly, "It's such a common story of a young'un who's too little to help when a vermin band come and attack and kill everyone, happens much too often... Especially when you come from the the South. I couldn't even say goodbye to my parents, they swept us young ones away so fast. Killed many others. I don't quite recolect how i escaped, something about being to incompetent, a blade in the back, blacking out. Then a friendly mouse face in front of me." Ashe was still staring into the fire. "Helplessness is the worst thing I have felt in my life, couldn't help my family, couldn't help the other slaves," here Ashe half-covered his face, "I have still never found those vermin. Again, helpless, can't find anyone who has seen them, tried tracking, tried finding my home, all for nought!" Ashe ended the tale with his head against a wall and a single small tear running its course, "Well I guess that's enough of that horror story, how about you?" Ashe said turning around to face the Raccoon.

Coraka sighed, "Aye. Vermin... Anyway, I was naught but a young Dibbun, livin' with my Grandparents. My Mum and Dad just packed up and left one day, leaving my with my Grandparents. Raccoons like us aren't very common 'round here. And I never knew how my family came to Mossflower, to little I suppose. Well, my Grandmother studied herbs and such, and my Grandfather was a farmer. We lived in a nice little cottage next to the River Moss." Coraka's eyes took on a misty look, as if she were living back in a happier time.
"One day my Grandfather didn't come back from harvesting the red apples, so I went to look for him. I found him in the apple orchard, an arrow in his back and his throat slashed open." Now Coraka looked angry, furious. "Some vermin jumped out and surrounded me. I was only 12 seasons old, so I screamed and tried to dun to my Grandmother. But the vermin were to strong for that. They had caught my Gran too, and we were kept as slaves for the small band of vermin. It wasn't to bad, except one day, they traded us for some healthier creatures. We were beaten mercilessly by the new vermin band. They were stronger and meaner, and soon my old Gran died from the injuries. I vowed to avenge her and my Grandfather's deaths. And I did. One night I was so angry, I broke my bonds and attacked every creature that came near me. A red haze covered my vision, and when if lifted, I was half-dead. But the vermin who hadn't fled were all dead, every last one. So I used the last of my strength to heal myself with herbs, and became a traveling healer.  I found this place, and here I am now. Oh, and Ashe? Have you ever heard of Brockhall?"

Coraka had a funny gleam in her eyes when she said this, not at all bothered by re-telling her story.  "Oh! The soup and scones are done!"

The soup sat in two large earthenware bowls, and the scones on wooden plates, with a beaker of Chestnut and Almond beer each. Coraka placed these on the table and turned to grab two wooden spoons. As she gave one to Ashe she said again, "So have you heard of Brockhall, Ashe?"

"As a wide ranging traveler, I've heard some tales about it. it was the home of the Badgers a long time ago, before a warlord by the name of... Of.. I think it was Verdauga Green claws or something.. Greeneyes! Verdauga Greeneyes! that was it. Anyway when he died, his daughter Tsarmina took over and the current badger of Brockhall took the woodlanders in. After that, it's pretty much been left alone. I'm pretty sure it's South of that Redwall place." Ashe replied as he took the spoon.

Ashe looked up and around, searching the place a second time, "Hmm I guess it's not too bad for a snakes den." The squirrel remarked with a vague twinkle in the deep pools of blue that were his eyes. He smiled wryly, "Ididn't know I was this close to Redwall... Or that you kept the snakes."

OOC: By the way... Were did Coraka learn the term dibbun? :D Did you visit Redwall?

OOC: Yes, she visits Redwall regularly.  :)

BIC: Coraka laughed, "The snakes are long dead, my friend. But as for Redwall, it is alive and thriving! And very close, too. Shall we head out to it tomorrow? It's getting quite dark out, and I would hate to run into the vermin in the night. Poor ugly beats wouldn't stand a chance! What with me being a Raccoon and all. Do you like the scones and soup, Ashe?"

Ashe smiled, "soup? Soup is one of the few things I can cook, o' course i like soup. Or as an old friend of mine called it "Zoup!" He's the one that taught me to make it. What type do you make?"

OOC: Lol, your eating Coraka's Mossflower soup, Ashe. And her herb and scones. Lol...

BIC: "I can make a wonderful herb stew with wild mushrooms and celery, oh and with leeks and onions and carrots... Oh, sorry Ashe." Coraka laughed quietly. So shall we go to Redwall in the mornin' then?"

Night fell steadily, and the candle light peeked out from under the door of Brockhall, arousing any creature's interest who walked by.

Ashe leaned back with a sigh, "I think that is a wonderful idea. That is one of the few places I have never been to in my travels."

OOC: Are the Redwall creatures freeplay? If not I can make descriptions.  :)

BIC: Coraka leaned back and smiled. "Your room is down the hall, the first door on the left. I hope it suits your needs, my black friend. I am in the room next to the fireplace. Oh, I think I shall head to bed now. Goodnight, Ashe." Coraka walked quietly to her room, then promptly fell asleep on the bed with her large nightgown, leaving the herb scones and Mossflower soup out for Ashe, in case he got the late-night nibbles.

OOC: Redwallers are freeplay AS LONG AS: someone hasn't claimed RP rights for that creature. BIC:

Ashe sat by the fire to contemplate the coming day a short while before heading in the direction Coraka had pointed out. And also promtly fell asleep:

"Aaaaashe. Listen to me my friend."

The squirrel was dreaming, he turned over in his sleep."Don't trust anyone till you know who they are and can see them," was his policy.

"Asheeee. Calm yourself. You and many others are needed. there is coming a time very soon when your skills will be needed."

It was a mouse in full armour, now that Ashe could see him he relaxed and listened to what it had to say......

OOC: YES it is Martin, and I'm not quite sure what he has said YET, I'm working on that, once I have the right conversation with the right Redwaller I'll tell you what Martin said.

Kakarot, being the inquisitive male he is asks; "Do you girls know where I can get some soup?"

OOC: I had to type something.
