Well, a lot of people say that Redwall that is not written by Brian Jacques ISN'T Redwall. However, I was in the book store the other day and I noticed a series of books revolving around a concept created by Tom Clancy called "Ops-Centre". Clancy created the concept BUT the story itself was written by the author Jeff Rovin.

But the real question is, where would you get the talent from? You would need someone who seriously understands the Redwall mythos inside and out.

So, don't rule out "Redwall: The Lost Tales" (just an idea that was floating inside my head) just yet.

No!  I have yet to see another author with a style of writing just like Brian's, and having the books written in a different style would kill them.

Absolutely good example.  Any dinosaur fans that have ever dappled in Dinotopia, likely have heard of the short novels written by other authors based on James Gurney's idea.  They weren't bad, but they were a different type of story (novel vs. picture storybook).

Can Redwall be done by another author, and done well?  If the author understands Redwall well enough, and Mr. Jacques' flow and style, then you probably wouldn't notice a difference unless you looked at the cover.

Honestly, I don't think it would be the Sam with another author doing it. It's true that some people can learn the technique if they try, but nothing compares to Brian's writing.

There's quite a few good fanfics written on this forum that can be considered likely contenders. And I'm not saying that cuz I wrote one of them! :P

I'm wrighting one too!

I wouldn't mind from another author but not under the title of "A tale of Redwall"!

The Dune series is a good example of a series that did poorly after they changed authors.

If you could find someone with the talent of Mr Jacques then I would be happy to read it but I bet most people would it really hard to write like Brian did.

EricShinn

Obviously I don't need any other author to write red wall books. Brian Jacques has done a great job through writing this and I don't need any other author to spoil his thoughts.

I would be OK with sombody else wrighting a Redwall book, but I don't think anybody could wright one like BJ did.

Life is too short to rush through it.
