I read the book, so, if it's a little like the book, it's supposed to be awesome!

I've never read the book. The movie scared me when I was little, Lol. But I might like it now

Well, considering I've watched the trailer at least 30 times (no exaggerating there), looked through the Internet for any news I could find and the fact I'm a massive fan of the book, I'm pretty sure I'm quite excited for these films.

Have you heard of the 48fps thing? Pretty much, all films since the 1920s have been shot at 24fps, but the first part of this film (don't know yet whether the second one will) will be shot at 48fps, meaning it will look really life-like. This sounds cool, and it is, but there is a heap of bad points as well. But, they'll also show the film at 24fps. By the way, fps means frames per second. I'd suggest seeing it at both 24fps and 48fps.

For those who haven't read the book but want to see the movie, I highly suggest reading it, and I'm sure the others who have read it will agree.
Received mostly negative reviews.

I've seen the animated one like 10 tens maybe. The greatest adventure. Those are some lyrics some of me and my family randomly say out loud from the hobbit.

Gears

I loved the book, it was my most favorite out of all of them! It was more personal then questing, quest-a-roo! Find the ring, destroy the ring, kill stuff.
Yeah, I do stuff sometimes.

Speaking as someone who dressed up as a Hobbit to see the first screening of Return of the King in her city... yes. Yes I am excited about this movie.

I hadn't heard about the 48fps thing until you mentioned it in another thread, Daniel. I'll be interested to see how it looks. I like the idea of seeing it in both formats.

I haven't read the book for years, but I'm definitely going to have to read it again before I see the movie. I first read it in primary school, and I remember seeing it as a puppet production in year 6. Ah, the memories.

I love The Hobbit and I can't wait for the first movie!  I might even go to the theater to see it! (I don't make it to the movie theater very often)

I showed my brother the trailer two nights ago on Sunday.

What I don't is that they're going to cut it in two

Bragoon

It will almost certainly be at least three hours long, which means you'll definitely want at least an intermission.  But with the new habit of breaking movies into two parts emerging, I wouldn't be surprised if they released a pair of two-hour-long parts.

The thing I don't like is having to wait until the second one is out.
