Did you read The Hobbit

Yes
No
What's that

Well, I enjoyed it.  I went with a big group of friends, and everyone there (excluding maybe one or two who didn't like Galadriel in there) loved it!  Amazingly, I was not extremely annoyed when they added parts to the story.  I thought that they actually kinda fit.
Oh, and did anyone (that has seen it) notice the song that Gollum was singing as he was killing the goblin?  It was the exact same tune as in the Two Towers, when he was slapping a fish against a rock.

Yup. He sings that in the book too. I don't know why anyone would be mad about Galadriel. I think she fits. What I didn't like was the way they portrayed the Dwarves and Radagast, as well as the fact that they included Azog.

Who's Azog again?  The pale orc?  Well, I thought that it added to the plot, to make it more interesting.  Oh, and is it bad if the entire movie I was admiring how well they did the wargs?  The wargs looked cool!

You lot a so lucky. I have to wait until the day after Christmas Day (Boxing Day) to see it! That is when it comes out down here. :( I already have the tickets, but the wait is killing me!
Received mostly negative reviews.

Rainshadow

Well, hopefully the days will go fast, because you need to see it!

Lol, is that when you watch Boxing on t.v? And sorry, I'm not laughing to be rude, I just have never heard of that.

For those who have seen the Hobbit, is there truth to reports that this movie drags, and it should have been made shorter than its 3 hour runtime?

I was going to go, but Dad doesn't want to go. Sometimes he tricks like that, but I'm sure I'm gonna see it, no matter how no matter where ;D

I will be seeing the Hobbit tomorrow-in 3D 48 FPS. Later, I want to see it in 2D 24 FPS.

I am more nervous than excited about it though, given a growing uncertainty of its integrity as the months have gone by. Everything else aside, what will make or break the film is going to be the tone. If it is reminiscnet of Tolkinen's, than that will be grand.

Another of my largest concerns is the chracter devlopment of Bilbo Baggins. Given some reviews I've read, I worry over if his development of Tookishness and reluctant to bold adventuere is too sudden and not the more complex run of Tolkien's. And from when I first clasped eyes on Thorin, I continue to worry second most over him.

Bu tI will post more thoughts tomorrow.

What was wrong with Thorin? He was the best!

I hate that they are making it into three parts... Then again I love the fact that they are making in to three parts so there is more detail. However since the movie can be made into two movies with a great amount of detail that the third movie will be about the Necromancer. Because he wasn't talked about that much in the book.

Romsca

I saw it today and it was AWESOME.

48 FPS proved very realistic as expected, and the scenes with fast action that proved ddifficult to follow with the eyes were few and far in between. So good on that front.

After seeing the Hobbit, I can come away appreciating the digital graphics and incredible landscapes very highly. My greatest problem is as I expected it to be, with Azog. I would call his presence a misguided liberty strung together with a patchy network of Thorin-Azog relations trying to give another, unnecessary un-Tolkien obstacle in a quest with a good amount already.

Other additions I meet more favorably, Frodo's I find no fault with. The addition of the White Council, Necromancer and Dol Guldor (all only breifly mentioned by Gandalf in the book at a couple instances) I will not speak of yet.

The development of Bilbo Baggins proved far too simple and flat for my liking. He turned in a single moment from reluctant adventurer to bold burglar, and set out to convine Thorin (and not the rest of the dwarves into the bargain like the book, nor even himself, also like the book) that he could be a useful fourteenth expeditoner. Bilbo slowly developed starting in Mirkwood to become the leader of the expedition with ideas of his own and a strong deal of luck (which was absent from the movie, unfortunately) and a useful magic ring. He is clearly not this yet in An Expected Journey-appropriately.

On what I liked the most, I would name the Riddles in the Dark scene. It was done excellently, with Freeman at his peak (if you ask me). Serkis once again did a good job with Gollum. He was not wholly evil and quite pitiful, in presentation. I was very glad to see the inclusion of Bilbo resisting the notion of killing Gollum when he was preventing an escape. The "pity stayed his hand" theme is one I am fond of in Tolkien's works.

Overall, I can appreciate it for what it was-an entertaining fast-paced movie with stunning graphics.
