have you seen the cartooon the hobbit.

The most awesome part of the movie, I think, was during the battle against the goblins, when Kili first blocked a bunch of arrows with his sword, then blocked them with a ladder, then they tossed the ladder over the heads of a couple goblins and used them as a shield running along the pathway, and then used the ladder as a bridge to cross a gap.  That part had me and my friend laughing.  xD

I'm rereading the book right now; I can picture it a whole lot better now that I've seen the movie.

Mattio

I've seen the movie twice now. Once when it came out in Japan a few weeks ago in 3D, and yesterday in 3D at 48fps. I have to say, I wasn't really impressed with the 3D when I saw it the first time. I'm not a fan of 3D, I tend to see things in 2D if I have the option. However, I found that it was completely different at 48fps. It took a few scenes to get used to, but I found it completely changed the movie experience for me. I really liked it.

As for the movie itself, I loved it. I wasn't sure how they were going to get three movies out of the book, but now I see that they've added in a lot of stuff from Tolkien's other writings, and they definitely have enough material to make three movies. I thought it was perfectly cast and the scenery was stunning, especially at high definition.

Rusvul

Wow. 48 fps would drive me CRAZY!!! I have not seen this, but it is one of the few movies I would not have to be dragged into. (go ahead, put a sticker on my back that says NOT A MOVIE PERSON!. I've already beat you to it). I read and liked the book, but when I went on in the series, The Two Towers kind of lost my attention.

FPS stands for frames-per-second, it's the frame rate of the film. Most movies are shot at 24 fps, but they used special technology to shoot The Hobbit at 48. (They also shot everything with two cameras for 3D.) Basically it reduces motion blur and some flickering that you get at 24 fps and the images are a lot crisper.

Rusvul

Oh, wait, movies are at 24 fps usually? hmm, ignore my previous comment. from having a laggy computer, my fps knowledge is a little weird. (my average fps in minecraft is from 6-18. it's been down to 0 when I explodify stuff.)

Mattio

I saw some earlier posts saying they were splitting it in to 2 parts but aren't they actually doing 3
