Do you like cooking?

I never tried it but I really want to try!

Bragoon

I cook all the time.  I regularly make one or two meals for my family a week, plus whatever else I cook for myself.

For me, whether or not cooking is fun really just depends on my mood.  Sometimes it is, sometimes I don't care either way.  But it's not hard, as long as you're attentive and careful.

I cook sometimes, but I like baking better

Cooking and Baking. I love them both.

Flandor

I love to cook! Just made myself some spaghetti with spinach, garlic, butter, olive oil, red pepper flakes and fresh lemon juice.  Mm.

MMMMMMMMMHHHHHH! Sounds so good!

Lutra

I don't do a lot of baking/cooking because I'm only feeding myself, so it really comes down to after a day at work if I really want to work a bit harder to cook for myself. ;)  Most of the time that answer is no. :p

I love to bake scones, and bake cakes, and pastries.

Lutra, I am right there with you. I only need to cook for myself, so I only ever make basic stuff like pasta and... er... different pasta. Sometimes I try new stuff, like Flandor's hotroot soup recipe (:)), but usually I get ready-made stuff from the supermarket. Japanese supermarkets are great for that kind of thing.

I made nachos last week, though. It is very hard to find ingredients in rural Japan when you're craving Mexican food.

Mexican food is IMPOSSIBLE to find in Germany too! I had to have my mom send stuff from home when I lived there and wanted to make tacos.  The Germans made tacos too but... they were... interesting.  Certainly different...ok they were just bad.

Apparently it's hard to get Mexican food in Britain too.  It's a big incentive to stick to the U.S., I must say.

I found the food in Germany as a whole to be a bit bland and boring for my taste.  I grew up having all kinds of things to eat, Thai food, Mexican, Japanese, Italian, Irish, Vietnamese etc.  So while some of the German food was great, some of it was just a bit bland for me.  I'm not a huge bread fan and they ate TONS of it.

(Not bashing Germany; it was an incredible place)

Lately I've been on a Japanese kick.  Anyone ever visit the blog JustHungry?

That is one of the reasons I like living in Japan. Great Japanese food, all the time! I really want to learn Japanese-style home cooking while I'm here, I think it'd be cool to cook for my family when I eventually get back to Australia. What Japanese stuff have you tried recently?
