Character: Bilky Rushtide
Location: Inside Holt Reedbind

The young otter felt better with Elgar leading him. The paw on his shoulder gave Bilky confidence that everything would work out alright. They walked inside the holt, eyes blinking. It was a bustle of activity as usual. Otters walking this way and that. Some carrying trays of food, others conversing with friends.

Bilky looked up at Elgar expectantly. "Do you think the council will do something about the big birds mister Elgar?" He glance back at Shadow. "I'm, sorry about your fish miss Shadow. Maybe those eagles could catch us some big fish."

Soon they had found a member of the council. It was an old otter named Ryfe Tantail. He was a respected otter due to his level head and ability to act wisely in any situation. Ryfe happened to be friends with Elgar. He spoke to the otter before ushering Bilky, Elgar, and Shadow into the council room.

It was not long before the council had decided to send a contingent of otter from Reedbind to the mountains. They would make their way to Epsilon Peak, the area where the eagles had been spotted. Elgar, Shadow, and a few other otters were chosen to go on the quest and with special permission, Bilky was able to attend as well.

The next morning saw the group to the trails leading towards the mountains. Bilky bounded and frisked about at the front of the group.

"We're going to see the eagles! This is so excit-" His words were cut off as he tripped and fell on the path. The young otter stood and brushed the dust off himself. "Oops..."

(ooc: this post moves the plot ahead a bit. We are now on the trails headed for the mountains)

"I'm, sorry about your fish miss Shadow. Maybe those eagles could catch us some big fish."

"Don't worry about it.  It was just a fish."  Shadow smiled at him.  She had always been fond of Bilky, annoying though he may be at times.  He was nice.
They set off the next morning; Shadow feeling very glad to be away from all of the bustling.  She adjusted her bow across her back.

"We're going to see the eagles! This is so excit-" Bilky's words were cut off as he tripped and fell on the path. The young otter stood and brushed the dust off himself. "Oops..."

"Careful there, Master Bilky!  Watch where you're goin'!"  Shadow felt something sharp in one of her pads.  "Ouch!"  She stopped and picked up her left hindpaw.  Sure enough, there was a sharp stone stuck in her pad.  "Ugh, and it's bleeding too!"
Shadow pulled the stone from her paw, yelping when it finally came out.  Blood oozed down from the wound.  "Does anyone have anything that I can wrap this with?"

"Right you are, I will be ready and on my way by tomorrow." said HolmOak

Elgar smiled as he walked along the path, watching Bilky bounce about excitedly.  He winced when the young otter tripped and feel flat in the dust.

"Here now, Bilky, watch your step.  You'll injure yourself."

Elgar stopped at Bilky's side, helping to dust off his shoulders.  He straightened the young one's collar and gave him a pat on the head.  He really was quite fond of Bilky, despite his general dislike of messes and noise, which the little otter created a lot of.  He was generally a kind and thoughtful creature.

Shadow then gave a yelp of pain and started inspecting her footpaw.  Elgar sighed.

"What in season's name am I to do with the two of you, hm?"

He reached into his neatly packed haversack and drew out a small bundle.  Of course he was the only one who thought to pack medical supplies.  He sat down in the grass by the side of the path and patted the spot next to him.

"Here, have a seat.  I can wrap it up for you."

  Shadow Wildfire
  Near the mountains(?)

Shadow sat down, wincing as the blood flowed freely down from her paw.  "Will it 'urt?"  She asked.  "I don' want it ta 'urt."  She looked at the things that Elgar was holding.  "Do you 'ave anythin' to keep it from bein' infected?  I don' want it ta be infected."  She licked her right paw and stuck it against her injured footpaw.  What a way to dampen her spirits, and make the going slower.

Lumaq sat in his nest, they weren't as far up the mountain as the Kreevars, discussing the next raid with his second in command, "We cannot let them get to us again, train the army to be better than the pigeons they are!"
SI bowed stiffly, "As you wish." What else could he do, with a leader as savage as Lumaq? The Scarlaks were training for war!

Elgar gave Shadow a sympathetic smile.

"If I put something on it to keep infection out, it'll hurt.  But it shouldn't be too bad.  It'll hurt a lot worse if it gets infected."

He knelt in the grass and pulled some supplies from the small bundle.  First he took a small bit of cloth and poured a dab of brandy on it from a tiny flask.  He wet another cloth with water and used to it wipe away all the excess blood.  Taking the cloth with the alcohol on it, he dabbed it at the wound, careful not to cause her too much pain.  Satisfied that it was clean enough, he wrapped the paw deftly with a long, dry bandage, tying it off neatly on the top of her footpaw.

"There now.  That ought to feel better.  Try to keep your weight off it as much as you can." He turned to look at Bilky.  "Bilky, would you try and find Miss Shadow here something to lean on while she walks?"

  Same spot

"No, no.  It's alright.  I'll manage."  Shadow got up slowly, struggling.  She stood up and tried to take a step.  She stumbled and fell flat on her face.  Shadow lifted her head up, grunting.  "Ow.  I found a stick to lean on."  She reached underneath herself and grabbed a branch.

OOC: So sorry guys! I've been hauling mulch the past two days. BIC:

Jerrith the golden eagle was not happy... On the contrary, he was furious. The two traitorous lookouts that had been on duty were now awaiting their immanent demise. Stiler (same eagle) was pacing a specialy made nest for planning and strategizing. He was alone, attepmting non-stop to work out a plan that coould be used to take down Lumaq and his forces.

  Shadow
  Same Spot (Yet again!)

Shadow pulled the branch out from underneath herself.  It was a sturdy looking stick, but it would need a little work to become a good staff.  She pulled out a knife and got to work.  A few minutes later, it was a good and smooth staff.  Shadow stood up slowly and leaned her weight on the staff.  It worked!  "Alright!  I'm ready to go now!"

OOC: Ok, let's get this moving!

Character: Bilky Rushtide
Location: Base of mountains

It took the travelling band a little over a day to reach the bottom of the mountains. Bilky threw his head back and marveled at the peaks above him. The mountains had loomed large in the distance but now that he was near the, all the young otter could do was gape.

"Would ya look'it tha'!" He sucked in a breath as a huge eagle swooped overhead and disappeared into the rocky crags above. "How're we goin' to get up there Mr. Elgar?"
_________

The eagle that had flown over the group was Trilden, one of the host of Jerrith. The dark brown bird of prey cocked his head as he eyed the creatures below. What were otters doing here at the mountains? They belonged down by the ocean did they not?

The dark brown bird of prey landed lightly on the edge of a rocky outcrop and dipped his head in recognition of his comrades. Five great eagles nodded in return. The Guard for Jerrith opened a way for Trilden to walk through. Ahead of his stood Jerrith.

"My lord."

"Ah, my good and faithful scout. What have your eyes seen during your scouting mission?"

"The Skalraks make no movement lord. Perhaps they will leave us in peace?"

The leader bird shook his great head. "No! This shall not happen. The Skalraks followed us here from the far north. They will not stop until they have overrun my clan. This cannot be allowed!"

"Lord, they are many and we have smaller forces. If they attack in full force we could be overrun."

"This I know. We can only hold what we have and hope fate and fortune smile upon us. Go now, leave me to think."

"Lord, there are otters at the base of the mountains."

"Otters here? This is not their territory." The leader paused in thought. "Fly down there and speak to them Trilden. Find out what they want."

Trilden bowed his head and turned to leave.

"Oh, and Trilden?"

"Yes lord?"

"Tell not the others what we have discussed."

"Aye lord."
__________

Bilky picked up a rock and tossed it back and forth in his paws. He looked up at the mountains again. "Do you think those big old birds will come eat us up?" As he spoke the young otter gasped. There was a huge eagle headed straight for him!

Rigg instinctively drew his weapons, he pulled back his arm ready to throw if the bird attacked. A light breeze sprang up ruffling his fur, Rigg stared at the great bird with unblinking eyes as it flew closer.
