I love meat! I don't get why people will give it up just because they feel sorry for the animals. I mean, come on, they're just animals. :P
Also, they used to make cheese with something from a baby cow's stomach, but I don't think they do that anymore.

For a lot of people (including me) it's not guilt about animals dying but rather about animals suffering.  Most factory farms are abysmal places and terribly cruel.  I still eat some meat but I generally feel guilt about how the animals are raised and slaughtered.
It's not a reason to become vegetarian! two solutions: Why don't you buy local from somebody that you know doesn't treat the animals cruelly. Or raise them! A lot of people don't want to eat there animals because their cute, but that's just stupid. Why do you eat meat from the grocery store, the animals killed for the meat were cute too!  >:(

It's a perfectly reasonable reason to not eat meat.  A) it's MUCH cheaper to be vegetarian.  Meat is incredibly expensive for how much food you get, and if you ever had to buy groceries you know organic/farm-raised/grass-fed/cage-free meat and poultry is usually double the cost of regular.  I can afford it because I'm just feeding myself but if I had a family to feed, or a smaller income, what then? And B) It makes a lot of people feel sad and guilty.  You might not feel that way but a ton of people do.  And if eating certain foods makes some people feel bad or sick, they certainly have a right to eat that way without being harassed, just like other people should be allowed to eat meat without being harassed.  It's only fair.

Also, while I'd love to raise animals its simply not practical for most people.  At all.

Play nice, people. ;)

While I'm here, I wouldn't give up meat either.  I like my poultry products.  I've watched the Food Inc. film and I saw it as propaganda.  Not all farms are like this, not all situations are like this, though the film portrays it as the only thing going on.  That's no way to convince people to buy into their opinion.  If PBS Frontline ever did anything on this, I'd listen to them.  They provide balance to a lot of the emotionally touchy subjects everyone either sides with completely or loathes 100%.

You make a good point about Food, Inc.  It still got to me to see that any of that goes on anywhere in the US.  What's much more disgusting to me is the pet food industry, honestly.

Frontline is great, I watch almost every week.  Always informative and they rarely pick sides.

I really don't like meat. Not that I feel guilty for animals just. . .I guess I just don't like the taste.

Ugh... I'd die if I had to go vegetarian... I'm like, the closest human being to carnivores.  :D

I only eat animals that were blessed by the Bible, God to the Israelites. So I eat: birds, and hoofed animals.

But presumably not all animals with hooves?

true, I should have clarified. I eat, for example, cows, pigs, and occasionally, lamb... But not horses

Horse tastes rather awful anyway, it wouldn't really be worth eating unless food was short.

I don't like the fact that they eat cats and dogs in some Asian countries. I know it's part of their culture, but...

It's all cultural though.  Pigs are intelligent and sensitive animals and we eat them just fine here.  Can't fault them for eating different animals than us.  I don't like the idea much either but they're well within their rights to.

I'm not vegetarian but I don't like killing animals.  So pretty much if I were a butcher I would be broke.
