Who here likes Harry Potter series?

I like the Harry Potter series. I like how the characters are complex and aren't all one-dimensional. There are exceptions, of course. Lupin, Sirius, Snape and Dumbledore would have to be my favourite characters. My sister has read the series more times than she can count. BTW, have you noticed how pointless Quidditch is, because once the Snitch is caught they've pretty much won the game? I know in the World Cup that didn't happen, but still.

Does anyone have the spin-off books, like "Quidditch Through the Ages", or "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them"? I like how they were written for charity.

Professor Lupin was my all time favorite character. I loved reading about the Marauders and the time that Harry's father and his friends spend at school. The third book was my all time favorite, but I enjoyed the whole series. It's always a good thing to read when I need a break from Redwall and other books. The movies were good but they didn't have the same flavor and atmosphere as the books did, in my opinion.

Also, the picture of Umbridge in book 5 is possibly my favorite drawing ever. So funny.

I've read them all, but they're not really my thing. After Prisoner of Azkaban, it really dropped out of Youth fiction and into Young Adult fiction, which I tend not to enjoy so much anyways.
Also, I tend to prefer magic a little more scarce, or designated to characters other than the main group, like in the Arabian Nights stories, Lord of the Rings, and Narnia. It just makes it easier for me to suspend my disbelief, I suppose. The type of magic in stories like the Inkheart trilogy are more like my idea of how magic should be, something a little more subtle.

That being said, I think Sirius Black is my favorite character.

HUGE Harry Potter fan!!!!
Hagrid is my favourite character; and Ludo Bagman...I really wish he made it into the fourth movie, but I guess he was not important to the plot of the story, so it was a logical decision...Still, I'm a bit of a gambler, and I LOOOOVE Quidditch, so I connect to Mr Bagman.

Speaking of Quidditch, I'm a member of my university's Quidditch team (and Harry Potter club)!! That's right, Quidditch is now a real sport, thanks to Alex Benepe, founder of the International Quidditch Association. Quidditch is really catching on around the world too - check out their website if you haven't heard about it yet!

I play seeker or chaster most of the time (but I prefer chasing).

As for my favourite ccharacter in the movies, I'd probably have to say Snape, because Alan Rickman is one of the best actors ever - he plays the PERFECT Snape.

Your welcome. I agree, Snape is one of the best characters, and Umbridge won a 'prize' for being one of the best villains, I'll try to see if I can find it again. And I don't approve of Quidditch in the real world, you can't fly!

EDIT: Found it! The novelist Stephen King said that Professor Umbridge from the Harry Potter series is the "greatest make-believe villain to come along since Hannibal Lecter."

Lupin was great; best Defence Against the DA teacher for sure!

I would have to agree with you - the movies were cool, and visually stunning, but they were just not the same as the books. The 2nd and 6th movies were probably my favourite.
Hey, what picture of Umbridge are you talking about? My book doesn't have any pictures...

Also, has anyone been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, in Florida? I went last year, and even though it was 2 years old by then, it was SOOOOO busy...but an unforgettable experience nonetheless. They scenery is so accurate to the movies, and browsing the shops was awesome. And to cap it all off, it was cool to see some real props from the series and rooms inside Hogwarts... and the ride at the end of Hogwarts is the best ride ever! Only disappointing thing was the wands; I thought theyd be made of real wood, but they were made of some plasticy material. Ah well, I got one anyway.

Haha, I know we can't fly yet...but one day when technology improves, maybe we will be able to!

Someday it'd be cool to see the Harry Potter thing in Universal but I don't think I could spare the cash. Saving up for a trip to Ireland, you see

Wonwill, the third and fifth are my favorites too! Like I said, I love Lupin, Sirius and James and they features pretty prominently in those two. Plus the Order of the Phoenix was so cool.

I find it hard choosing a favourite book, but I'd say the 5th and 7th...
You know that chapter in the Deathly Hallows with the 7 Harry's? That was a scary chapter, especially when You Know Who appeared - thank goodness they made it to the Burrow in time. I had a nightmare that You-Know-Who was after me after I read that chapter, eh? If anyone wanted to know that.

And yeah Flandor, that's the only thing...it was quite the expensive trip.
Ireland though?? Cool!!! Ireland is definitely on my top 5 list of places that I want to go to someday...
