Which book is better: Redwall or Mossflower?

Mossflower is the more coherent story, with a better developed plot.  Remember, Mr. Jacques never really was positive Redwall would ever see publication outside of the school for the blind where he read it to kids.  When Mossflower was written, Mr. Jacques was able to expand on his characters and make the story as a reason for existing (why did Redwall exist?).  It flows better without one-off characters that would not ever fit in Redwall properly (the beaver, the horse, Squire Julian with his farmhouse).  Mossflower is the better written story for those reasons.

Well that's your opinion, so I can't argue, I think Mariel of Redwall is the weakest in the series

Aww you don't like Mariel? As a kid I always liked swinging a rope around after reading that one :(
