I want to go to Japan so desperately... :'(

I won't be on this forum much anymore, but I'll pop in to say hi every now and then.

I've travelled extensively in Japan, and I've also been to Thailand and Cambodia. Korea is high on the list of Asian countries I want to visit; I live in Japan so it only takes about one and a half to two hours to get there.

I highly recommend Japan as a travel destination, though I'm a little biased. Tokyo is OK to visit, but I'm not really a city person. To me the real Japan is in places like Kyoto and Nara and the countryside.

I agree, cities aren't my thing either! Yet sadly, I am stuck in one....
Also, I find it cool that you live in Japan!! So I'm assuming you speak Japanse?

Speaking of languages, I speak some Russian and a little french as well (since I live in Canada), although I would love to learn Japanese or mandarin too...after all, especially these days, knowing different languages is handy!

I do speak Japanese, yes, though not as well as I'd like. Reading is more difficult, I can read two of the alphabets just fine but I'm not so good at the Chinese characters!

When I go back to college I want to study language.  I pick them up very quickly, it's one of my few inate talents that I haven't had to work for.  I went from knowing no German to being proficient in it in just a month, and now am fluent because I lived there for a year.  But Japanese or Mandarin are first on my list when I go back to school.  Looking forward to the challenge ;)

I'm Australian, I just live here to teach English. I've been here for three years and I love it!

I finally managed to make a decent tonkatsu ramen broth :) it was a real pain haha, I had to boil pig's trotters and bones and all kinds of stuff... But it came out rich and tasty, and my friend Bryan who lived in Japan for a few years, said it tasted like ramen shop broth, so I considered it a success.

I thought the remake was fabulous.  It was really well done, and I was impressed by Jackie Chan, Jaden Smith, and both young Chinese actors.

I liked both versions, but I think I prefer the older one, simply because with some movies, remakes can't beat the original. However, in some movies, I like the remake better. For example in the new Parent Trap, I'm not a Lindsay Lohan fan, but I thought that the other actors gave their best performance in it.

I'm impressed! That sounds amazing. It's hard to find proper ramen outside Japan, most people seem to think that cup ramen is the real thing. The ramen shop in my town serves this really great yuzu ramen, it's my favourite.

There's a ramen shop in Buffalo that's not half bad, but it's a bit of a drive from my house and I hate city driving so I don't go often.  Yuzu sounds awesome... I've never had it in a noodle dish.  My favorite part of ramen is the boiled egg, when the yolk gets all soaked in broth...

I hate city driving too. I accidentally had to drive in Osaka once, that was not fun!

They put yuzu in all sorts of stuff here. Each area in Japan has its own local speciality (meibutsu in Japanese) and yuzu happens to be ours.
