QuoteI'm all for saying Brian Jacques was one of the best name-creators ever.

I have to throw in my vote for Rakkety Tam MacBurl, but I also like Basil Stag Hare, and by extension, Cheek Stag Otter.

Tiria Wildlough

I LOVE Cheek! He is sooo funny! :D
I laughed when he says 'I'm 'ungry,' and Basil says, 'Oh, you're 'ungry now. I thought you were Cheek.'
Or something like that. It was sooooo funny!  ;D ;D ;D ;D :D :D

Some of the hares have ridiculous names...and quite long as if they were shooting for the Guiness book of records.  ;D  Oddly enough, I just like Martin.  I can actually pronounce it for one thing, and it sounds like a strong name, and not "out there".  8)

Wow, four whole pages of favorite names, and not one person mentions Beauclair Feathringsol Cosfortingham?!?!!?!?!?  :o :o
Though I must say, Tammo, Rakkety Tam and Wild Doogy Plum are awesome as well!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Tammo's proper full name Tamello de Formello Tussock???   I thought for sure it was.......
Mr. Jaques was an exquisite name creator.  I like making up names mysel (Shoni, Chogi, and Malcibidus being some of the more normal ones ;)  )

Dannflor and Plumnose come to mind. The more common names are always balanced by the more unusual ones.

Log-a-Log

This may be just a coincidence, but I feel that the older creatures in Redwall like Hoarg from Taggerung sometimes have very old sounding names.

Skalrag. ;D Taggerung's a pretty cool name, too.

Slagar. It's cool how Jacques inserted a g into slaver to give Chickenhound his new name. Very creative.

How come Chickenhound is choosing between the names 'Redflash and Mousedeath' and he chooses 'Mousedeath' but then he's called Slagar in Mattimeo? That doesn't make much sense.  ???

My favorite name is Ranguvar Foeseeker.  ;D

Such an epic name! Mhera is a great name too.

Skalrag of Marshank

Dunno. Maybe he thought those names sounded immature? Foxes need cool sounding names, Mousedeath isn't all that cool sounding.

Then what about Redflash? What's 'Slagar' supposed to mean, anyway?

Slagar flows with "Slagar the Slaver," maybe...? Good question. 0_o
