Now I don't know if it's my ADD, or just the Lord of the Ring's writing style, but I can never get through more than Fellowship and a bit of Two Towers before I'm too frustrated to slog through any more.  It's not because it's old and long, because I like classic novels as much as the next guy and routinely read Shelley, Poe, Dostoyevski, Twain, London, Stevenson, Wilde, Stoker, you name it, without trouble.  And I adore the Hobbit; it's one of my all time favorite stories.  Idk.  It's a mystery to me but I doubt I will ever in this lifetime finish the Lord of the Rings series.

Although I do know how the story goes because I've see the movies, which I find to be pretty quality and a good adaptation of the parts of LotR I have read.

Here's a thought: Try and get a relative who enjoys the books to read the books TO you, while you read along. It's good bonding time and can defeat the ADD blues (been there, friend). My uncle read the whole series to me when I had just started reading. I STILL read them aloud at night before I go to sleep each night, and I'm 19! (The ability to read each character in a separate voice was what got me into acting.)

OR

Get an audiobook version of LOTR (not that hard to find, expecially if you have iTunes), and read

An audiobook is a good idea.  Maybe I'll give that a shot.  I don't understand why it's LotR that gives me trouble, because I can enjoy other long winded books.

Are there other books by J.R.R. Tolkien other than the books about Middle Earth?
Here's a real one Tolkien wrote that isn't Middle Earth: Mr. Bliss

Don't forget "Leaf by Niggle"

Tolkien also wrote a Santa Claus story once, too. Anybody remember what it was called?
Wait, you know the author? Cool

If you mean J.R.R. Tolkien, I'm sorry to say no (he passed away in the Sixties). He's one of the people I hope to meet in Heaven.

If you mean Christopher Paolini, then yes. We met when I was younger.

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien.  I found that on Wikipedia.

And it varied among his friends and family as to what name exactly he was called. His cousins called him Reuel, his wife called him John, his parents called him Ronald, his grandma called him John Ronald, and C.S.Lewis just called him Tolkien! And that's not even counting the nicknames...

MMORPG. It's massively multiplayer. Altho' you can play alone or in groups. The part i like best is the Monster Play.

No no no, the best part is the Free People!  I <3 Wardens!  *Ahem*  Now, back on topic.  Which Middle Earth themed book was your favorite?  Mine personally is the Hobbit.

The thing about of Silmarillion is that it is basically a collection of Middle-Earth's most famous legends and mythologies. Essentially a "Bullfinch's Mythology" for Elves.
