Whenever I see animals looking out in the distance I feel like they're plotting a conquest of the world.

  Ah, yes, that's definitely what Abby's doing.  She's not just staring at the neighbour's dogs, she's telepathically communicating with them and trying to win them over to her side so that she can have tiny minions to do her bidding.  Totally makes sense.
