My boss gave me a free ticket to go to the Gladiator games.

Probably should have told him I was taking part in them.

Hey I'm writing a fandom rant. Ignore it if you want.

I never really realised how much religious allegory there is in Homestuck. Like apparently there are a lot of parallels to Gnosticism? (I need to learn more about it.) Most notably with Yaldabaoth and Abraxas and apparently Echidna is like a figure called Sophia who I think might have been Yaldabaoth's mother? And I mean obviously you've got the Signless/Sufferer basically being troll Jesus, being raised by a virgin and having his devoted circle of followers who predicted his second-coming after he was tortured to death and the item of his suffering became his symbol. But it runs deeper than that with the most recent updates with Echidna basically trying to ensure that the new universe they're creating will be a paradise and it needs Karkat, the Sufferer's second-coming, to guide it properly. But there are notable inconsistencies what with the Angels being more demonic, described as "terrible beings that Paradox Space uses to usher in the End" and Lord English is apparently their master somehow? But Angels are also associated with the Hope aspect because hundreds of them were summoned by Jake's Hope field and apparently they groomed Eridan to realise his potential as the destroyer of Hope? According to the omniscient Doc Scratch anyway. And its discussions of morality I don't think line up with any religion. Maybe Hussie is borrowing all these themes to make something of his own that espouses his own ideals and views?

I don't know. You don't expect this silly webcomic to be so deep and meaningful, even if it is the longest work in the English language (9859 pages and counting). Certainly not from Act 1. Though the themes of family and friendship were there from the start, which I guess is to be expected in a coming-of-age story. But morality? Existence? Choice and the nature of free will? The destruction of idiotic disability tropes is great and all the other stuff. Wow.

Hussie is not only an incredibly intelligent and insightful man but also a masterful storyteller. I admire him so much. He's come a long way since Jailbreak. Heck, he's come a long way since he started Homestuck. Just, the guy is a literary genius and I think, ultimately, a great person.

"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.

(Just wanted a chance to use that GIF. ;D Sorry, not sorry.)

Anyway, well, it seems like the dude did some serious thinking out of his webcomic.  Interesting.
