To be honest the only time you NEED to be online is when you get the eggs seeing as you need to put them up on sites or in signatures to get clicks (if you don't do this they die) but some people like to name their dragons and give them unique descriptions.

  Oh, I see what you're doing here.  Taking my Shimmer-Scale and then trading its descendants to others, hoping for other rare species!  HOW DARE YOU?!?!?!  (;D  Just kidding, it's totally cool.  I'd do the exact same thing.  In fact, I believe I have once or twice.  :P)
