My favourite is Cregga's, it brings tears to my eyes every time.
Also Boar the Fighter. He knew what had to be done, so he did it. Euulaaaliiaaaa!!!
(you can tell that my favourite species is badgers.)

I'd say that the best deaths from each book were...
Redwall: Asmodeus partly because of the description and partly because of the snake itself.
Mossflower: Boar/Ripfang mutual kill. An epic battle, and long before invincible badgers started effortlessly defeating huge searat crews as a series standard.
Mattimeo: Nadaz, for the same reason as Asmodeus.
Mariel of Redwall: Clary, Thyme and Pakatugg. You got characters who aren't badgers defeating an entire searat crew.
Salamandastron: Urthstripe/Feragho mutual kill. More tragic than Rose's death IMO.
Martin the Warrior: Can't choose between Felldoh and Rose. Yes, THE Rose has a contestant.
Bellmaker: Urgan Nagru/Finnbarr mutual kill. Nice to see the main villain in one-on-one combat with a huge otter, particulary when he actually manages to fatally injure. Many of later Redwall villains were just...I'd rather not get banned for using colorful language. Or maybe Captain Slipp just because we get to see a good rat.
Outcast of Redwall: Veil. I could almost feel Bryony's nostalgia right there. Almost.
Pearls of Lutra: Lask Frildur/Romsca mutual kill. The best battle in the book.
Long Patrol: Can't decide between Rinkul (the single biggest ____ in the book, plus I liked the Russa's stick sub-subplot) Rockjaw Grang (nice and epic, just the way I likes it) and Damug Warfang (partly for the gore, partly because he actually won the most epic final battle in the history of Redwall before being overwhelmed and partly because he managed to blind and  give major injuries to a mad badger lady)
Marlfox: Mokkan. He almost escaped.
Legend of Luke: Vilu Daskar! (and Luke of course )
Lord Brocktree: Ungatt Trunn because it took forever to kill him. The Blue Hordes' defeat on the other hand was laughable. I expected an epic battle.
Taggerung: Probably Yo Karr because he was involved in the only real battle in the book. Or Cregga because she was in Marlfox and Long Patrol.
Triss: Shogg or Plugg Firetail. All other deaths were unbelievably pathetic.
Loamhedge: Bragoon/Sarobando/Kharanjul mutual kill. The most epic part of the book. Kharanjul should have been the main villain instead of Raga Bol.
Rakkety Tam: Crumshaw, Wopscutt, or Gulo. The former ones for Boromir-like deaths, the latter one for being a competent fighter that nearly defeated the main character (IMO Tam was one of the better protagonists of the series).
High Rhulain: Cuthbert/Slothunog mutual kill. Slothunog should have appeard more in the book. And there should have been a proper fight with the cats. All those omissions, and the book is the shortest in the series besides Bellmaker.

I agree with most of the deaths, but i don't consider vermin dying as heroic.  No offense, still a very comprehensive list.  Oh and Osu, how did u become a global moderator?

Well, in a lot of cases I'd agree, but there are a few exceptions... mostly in Pearls of Lutra.

Romsca's death is pretty obvious, but I'd say that cap'n Barranca qualifies as well. The war with Ublaz was kicked off after the tyrant murdered his brother Conva; the ferret captain convinced all of the others to go along with him in a full-scale war to avenge that, as well as win their independence from the pine marten.

Barranca and the handful of other captains are then caught away from their crews by a shipload of trident-rats, but they heroically battled on, in spite of injuries, inferior weapons, and being vastly outnumbered, to try to hold out as long as possible.

Finally, after seemingly being rescued by his crew, Barranca was ruthlessly betrayed and murdered by the foul fox Rasconza.

I think the context makes it count as a relatively heroic death for a vermin.

I don't think Osy got that promotion yet -- the new mods just got extra tags so that we'll show up as mods anywhere, not just in our own forums. It makes things less confusing.

In Eulalia! the best death (but certainly not the most heroic) was Gruntan Kurdly's just for being slightly humorous (a secondary antagonist whose secondary goal is to conquer Redwall and primary goal is to eat hard-boiled swan eggs...what is this?).
The book didn't have very memorable deaths IMO.
In Doomwyte I'd say the best death was Baliss' because like Ungatt Trunn he took forever to kill. Or perhaps Tugga Bruster. Although there were worse shrews in the series (*cough*FENNO*cough*) it was interesting how he was protrayed as the bad guy and Chigid's wife as the good guy just for that one scene.

GRUNTAN KURDLY! He's one of my favorites. I suppose his death could be considered heroic, if you forget about the egg stealing part. Anybeast wot goes up agin a swan must be very brave, very stupid, and probably very dead... woo, Gruntan!

Skalrag. Kidding, kidding. I was really sad when Felldoh died. It's really dramatic when Rose dies in Martin the Warrior. I almost cried at that part...

I was so sad when they both died.  I mean Warbeak was so freaking awesome...
