In two weeks, the US celebrates it's annual day of Thanksgiving. What are your respective holiday traditions for Thanksgiving?

For my family, we celebrate with the standard turkey, mashed potatoes, and other foods. But, before we eat, we celebrate communion, as outlined in the Biblical Book of John. After that, we each state three physical things, three intangible things, and three life events that we are thankful for. It's a good way to keep perspective on what's truly important in life. And finally, when the meal is done, we eat pumpkin pie while watching the Peanuts TV special A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. It's a good day overall. :)

I don't remember the last time we celebrated Thanksgiving.....maybe when I was a few mounths old or some thing......any way I think we are doing it this year......I'm hungery already.

I love the Charlie Brown Thanksgivng special! It's one of my favorites along with their Christmas special. My family and I usually eat a Thanksgiving meal while watching the Macy's Thanksgiving  Day Parade on t.v. We also try to donate a turkey and other items to a food bank if we can, to families who can't afford a meal. One of my favorite Thanksgiving foods are my sister's recipe for deviled eggs. And of course, pumpkin pie!

My entire family, on several sides starts baking. We usually provide home-baked Norwegian bread, while my cousins provide the turkey and finger jello, and my other aunt and uncle bring whatever, while my grandmother brings casserole. We all go over to out cousins where we eat a large dinner. After which some of us watch Macy's. If it's nice, when the younger people get bored, we go out and play football itself. After we come back, my family watches The Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. It's a fine day, though we haven't been doing it for the past two years, just watching Charlie Brown and eating a fairly normal meal.

Pretty much, my entire family gets together (including aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents) and we have fun chatting.  We have a huge lunch (at around 2:00 PM or so, so really it's more of a lupper), including turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and whatever anyone decides to bring.  After that, more chatting!  Since we rarely get to see each other (my family is sort of spread out and busy all the time), it's a great time getting to talk.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Usually my mom's whole family comes to my grandma's house around noon.  My sister and I will play with my cousin while the adults finish cooking.  We eat around mid-afternoon.  After that us kids play some more, maybe outside, and the adults talk.  For dessert Grandma usually has pumpkin or apple pie and ice cream.

We used to celebrate Thanksgiving dinner with my cousins, but since they've gotten older like I have, they just do it with their own families now. They sometimes come over for pie and coffee though.

For the last few years, we just had Thanksgiving as a family because the relatives that were hosting it lived far away and we couldn't go to their Thanksgiving. So, we would make everything for Thanksgiving ourselves (which was a lot of work but a whole lotta fun) the day before and wake up to the smell of the turkey in the cooker. YUM!
This year we are going to our grandparent's house for Thanksgiving dinner. We are excited to see some of our cousins again and eat the great food! But of course, most of all, we are looking forward to being thankful to God for His blessings!

If you wanna chat, PM me :) I'd love to talk with any of you!

Mom cooks the turkey on Wednesday.  With my current job, I actually get Thursday and Friday off, so we enjoy spending time together (it's just the two of us) and reflecting on our blessings.  On Friday, we eat leftovers, make cheeseball to go with the leftovers, and watch the annual day after Thanksgiving Huskers football game.  Go Big Red!

We usually go to my grandparents on my mom's side for lunch and have a big turkey dinner there, then go to my grandparents on my dad's side for supper and have a big turkey dinner there as well. xD  Though this year one of my grandpas is in the hospital so I don't know if we're going to change our plans.

Happy Thanksgiving!  Be merry, of prayer, and of thanks for all that you have. :)

And the turkeys have their own way of dealing with this:
