  I think it would be cool to have animal-like humanoids, and medieval times.  Maybe small archipelagos that make up kingdoms as well?  And then of course there would be the fish people, who would probably have their own land.  And bird people, who'd have the floating islands.  Maybe not even just bird people, but dragon people, bat people and insect people.  Any type of combination between flying animal and human.
  You could also have animals that are a combination of (possibly Redwall) animals and fish, birds, etc.  We could even have subterranean creatures and kingdoms!

  Well, I have been toying around with one or two ideas for awhile.  It's the idea that you have an entire world of water with tiny islands on it, and the main species on there is a fish-like humanoid.  Every other species is also like a fish, so horses have fins and gills, cats have webbed paws and gills, dogs have the same, etc.

  The other idea is sort of like the first one, only it's floating islands.  The main species has bird wings and tails or something, but still humanoid.  The other animals are like that.  They pretty much have some means of flying.

  Eh, not sure if either of these ideas are good, but they're just ones that I'd been thinking of for awhile.

Maybe it could be floating islands in the sky with oceans scattered with islands below.

 Very true!  I had just been thinking about that myself!  Well, great minds think alike, I guess.

Exactly like I was thinking! Instead of capsules for the underwater, it could be like sort of islands like around it it falls into unfathomless depths.

I kind of don't like the idea of space travel. Maybe we could have different terrains where different animals live. Like, swimming animals live on the islands, etc.

Here's a good idea:

Water creatures live on islands underwater that are huge pillars of rock, sticking out of the depths.

Ground creatures live on normal islands with various climates.

Air creatures live on floating islands.

  We could have different type of humanoids for the different types of climates.  Like, wolf or bear humanoids for snow and tundra, lizard humanoids for desert, frog (or something) humanoids for swamps, centaurs, fauns and the like for grassland, etc.
  For underwater, there could be shark, fish, whale, dolphin, turtle, and other types of marine life that are also humanoids (I love that word lol).
  Same for up in the floating islands.  Different types of flying creatures that are humanoid.
  If we were to have subterranean life as well, it could be mole, gopher, worm, and stuff like that.

Well, I did a prototype design of the air creature, and it has come out like a human, but with a beak and wings. I'll make a 3D version of it in Spore, which is an awesome game with many uses.

Of course it does. Water is needed for life.

Well not necessarily. The aliens you all are thinking up could depend on any chemical for life. For example, it could drink liqiud nitrogen or something. ;-)
