Let us mourn the passing of my faithful Jeep, and all its dozens of problems. It carried me home one last time this afternoon, while it spilled its guts all over this side of the mountains in a cloud of smoke and horrible sounds.

-Sometime later, the second mate was unexpectedly rescued by the subplot, which had been trailing a bit behind the boat (and the plot). The whole story moved along.
