I think he thought he was an emporer. He was ruler of a lot of pirate ships though.

I voted no because on my Redwall map Rifgard and Sampetra are two completely different islands

I would say that they are not the same. Rifgard had a kind of river flowing through the middle of the island and Sampetra didn't have such a land mark as far as I could tell. The layout of the land was also different. Another thing was that the vermin and lizards were left on Sampetra. Yes they might have killed each other off but then again maybe not.

I always got the impresstion that Sampetra was dead west all the way from Redwall Abbey. I think its more likely that Riftguard and Fort bladegirt are the same.

I don't think Sampetra and Riftgard are the same for many reasons

1. They are different places on the map (But then again the maps were'nt always reliable)

2. They were both described differently

And 3. They both were different island shapes.
