Lay Mizerob (That's how it SOUNDS, not how it's SPELLED).

Because I studied French in high school, I've always pronounced it as the French would have.

I've been a fan of the musical for a long time, and I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive when I found out when I found out they were making a movie. But, I saw it yesterday and I loved it. I've heard the songs over and over again, I have pretty much every English recording done of the show, and yet watching the movie was like watching the show for the very first time.

So good. ;D

I LOVED it. My friend said I was going to cry, which I had doubted at first. But nope. I teared :P It was AMAZING!
No, that won't work.. it makes too much sense!!

So, I'm thinking about going to see it with my brother today, but I just have a question to ask.  Are there any um... questionable scenes that I should be watching out for?

Well...there is the prostitute scene......and the prostitutes throughout....yup....
It's a little important, though. Just a little.....that's my pet peeve about that musical, they keep trying to lengthen that scene! I think they shortened it a little bit for the movie, though.
So, if you wish to avert your eyes, it's right after Valjean saves the guy under the cart. You'll see Fantine selling her locket and then hear them start singing "Lovely Ladies." Then, she sells her hair and they keep singing, then she sells her teeth and she keeps singing. Finally, she has no choice but to join them. That all ends when Fantine starts singing "I Dreamed a Dream."
Then there's Master of the House. It's a funny song, but about as worldly as they come.

So, did it bug you that they moved scenes around and flipped lines? Totally agree about how it was like watching it for the first time.  I heard people crying all over the theatre (including my mom). I wasn't crying....nor was I singing although there were times when I was tempted. I did whisper the words of the last song, though. LOVE that scene. I think there are two kinds of fans. 1. *sniff, sniff* This is so beautiful and..*sniff* sad. *bursts into tears* 2. I'LL JOIN THE CRUSADE!!!!! TO THE BARRICADES!!!
Yeah, I'm feeling a little random right now.
Living in peace, aye many a season,
Calm in life and sound in reason,,
'Til evil arrives, a wicked horde,
Driving a warrior to pick up his sword,
The challenger rings then, straight and fair,
Justice is with us, beware. Beware!

I wouldn't say it bugged me, but it was a bit jarring to have the flow of the musical I know so well interrupted like that. Instead of enjoying the scene, I was thinking, "That's not right, this doesn't go here!" It wasn't too bad, though, I can understand why they did it. One thing I didn't like was the song they added for Valjean after he found Cosette. It just didn't fit musically to me, but that could be because I'm just not used to it.

I never found myself singing, but I did mouth the words a couple of times during the big numbers.  :D

Icefire

Yeah, I half wonder if they did it to keep people like me from singing along! :)
The first time I really noticed someone flip lines was when Valjean sang "I am the mayor of this town/I run a business of repute" and then he stopped. They keep the camera on him long enough before panning to Javert it almost looks like he's thinking "Wrong line! Stink!" :D
I made my mom laugh during a very serious part when I pointed out that Valjean gave the wrong address to Javert in that scene before Drink with Me. ;D

Nice the second time I saw it I didn't cry but the first time I cried over 8 times. I think its because I getreally attached to the characters like it feels like I''ve known them forever. I got the original Broadway recording on my Ipod I HATE epione's voice in that recording but she was much better in the movie. I prefer  Colette's (Cozette Whatever)voice in the recording.
If you get that it's funny.
And did any one else noticed some of the voices were forced and not quite natural. Like they didn't have all the music lessons as people on Broadway would have

Fun Fact: The Bishop in the movie was the original Valjean in London in '85 which was the first time Les Mis was on stage or had music.

Lily

There were a few cameos in the movie. Colm Wilkinson was the Bishop, like you mentioned, and Francis Rufelle (the original Eponine) played one of the prostitutes. A large chunk of the supporting cast were played by West End actors. It was fun to play "spot the Les Mis alumni". :D

Mattio

haha nice I didn't know that much about it. The first time I saw it I had to look away when Javert comitted suicide because I saw he was going right to that bit of concrete. The crack that followed was just plain disqusting

Lily

Ohhhh, I know! That was awful. There were a few moments which were hard to watch.

And I think I know too much about musicals. There's not enough room in my brain for anything else!

Mattio

hahahahahaha soon like in a few min. I'll be uploading a vid that has me doing a bit o stuff from les mis
