OOC: I've been watching this thread..... who's going to win? And when??

Romsca

OOC: I was just about to say the same thing :P

Redwaller

Wow! 16 pages and it isn't finished yet! Lol!

Matthias720

OOC: Sorry guys. I am crunched with exams right now, but I'll try to squeeze in posting the last round tomorrow. I've had the last challenge planned for a little while now, but life has been crazy. I don't think you'll be disappointed though, as what I have planned is pretty cool. :)

Matthias720

With a disgusted annoyance, the Overlord picked up a muddied loaf of bread. "A rain dance, you say? Tam, why would you do this? You have RUINED this camp! For this egregious lapse of judgement you are hereby sentenced to labor in the kitchens. You shall leave only when you have prepared enough food to replace everything you ruined here tenfold. Your punishment begins, now."

As he finished speaking, a trio of stoats swiftly entered the tent, grabbing Tam roughly, and carrying him off to his fate. Gazing at his two remaining captains, the Overlord spoke to them in a hushed voice. "Now that only two of you remain, I can reveal my greatest secret. I am Overlord because I was appointed by one who came before me. It is now my duty to pass on that duty to one of you. The privilege will go to the one who does the best in the last test I'll give you."

"This test will be much harder than any challenge you have previously faced. You are to journey three days to the south, to an abandoned quarry. Within the quarry are a pair of ancient fox seers; two sisters who will give you tools for your task. Within the depths of the quarry is a giant serpent guarding a flawless green gemstone. You are to retrieve the gemstone for me and return as quickly as possible. I will decide for myself who shall be my successor when you both return. Now go forth!"

"Well I certainly did not expect you to take so long, but I see before me the gem. I congratulate you both for actually managing to not completely fail in your mission. On the other claw, you did take a very long time returning to me, and both of you have many cuts, scars, and bruises. Tell me, how did you come to be two weeks late, and why do you both have injuries? Tell me you tale, and I shall then choose the next Overlord."

OOC: This is it. At the end of this round, the winner of Overlord's Orders VII will be declared. This has been a long time coming, and it looks to be an exciting conclusion. The way this final round will work is different from the others in several ways. First off, there is a limit of three posts each for Leatho and Romsca. Second, each post MUST be at least two paragraphs in length (two sentence responses don't work in the final round). I want to hear less of an argument over who did worse in following instructions, but rather a carefully thought out story of the events that lead to the end I have described. The better the story (but not necessarily the better the writing, even though that counts) the better your chances are of winning. Put on a show, and may the best vermin win!

Tam and Martin

Good luck guys on the next round! (I thought I explained about the storm dance and Romsca.)

If you wanna chat, PM me :) I'd love to talk with any of you!

“Sir, the journey was hard, long and dangerous. We pulled on through the day and camped at the river. In the middle of the night we were attacked by a band of shrews. They were fearless warriors and we had the run for are lives. We ran blindingly though the country side and finally came to a stop at a little vole’s house, we raided it and slept there for what was left of the night. In morning we moved on. We came to the foot of a mountain, so I suggested we go around it. The decision of mine was a costly one. We wasted several more days. When we final made it around, the two of us were dead and exhausted. When the quarry finally came in sight, it was to dark to go down so we made camp once more. As the sun came up we made are way down and found the fox sisters.”

“Here are your tools” the foxes said while handing the vermin a dagger and torch.

“I took the torch and Romsca took the dagger. I lit the torch and we made are way through the caves, I got hopelessly lost. We started walking in circles, until Romsca found an under ground forest! I foolishly let my lit torch drop and it set the trees alight! The flames came all around us. And out of the fire came the head of a giant serpent, it had a green gemstone for his right eye! Romsca fearlessly leaped into the air toward the snake and drove her dagger into the beast’s head. The serpent fell dead and its gemstone eye rolled to my feet. We made it out alive and returned back here.  Romsca is the better choice for your successor.” He said with his head bowed in shame.
     “I am not worthy.”

Wow, Leatho, you act like you don't want to win.

OOC: @Mask, it's about who has the best story.

*takes a deep breath* Here goes...

BIC: "At this point, we were only about five days late. On the way back, we ran into some squirrel Highlanders on their way down to see someone or someplace they called "Red walled Abby", or at least that's what I think they called her or it. It was hard to tell, because of their obnoxious accents and the fact that they were screaming for us vermin to get out of their way so they could get there. There was about a score of them, all with claymores drawn and with blue war paint. It looked like there was no escape. Leatho hid the gem so they wouldn't see it; I'm sure if they would have seen it they would have for sure thought we stole it. I also hid my dagger, so I would appear less threatening; so they would leave us alone. However, those squirrels saw this, and they thought I was trying to hide my dagger so I could stab them sneakily.
" 'Off wi' their 'eads, laddies!' cried the squirrel who was probably their clan chieftain. They chased us over a large field and into some thick woods. We probably ran for at least a mile. Once we got in the woods, we lost them. The squirrels all had to keep track of each other, so they went at the pace of the slowest squirrel. Us, being only two, were able to run at a much faster pace. After that, it took us a while to find our way out of the woods. That is why it took us so long to get here."

OOC: I am so sorry. I've had my nose stuck in a book...a really good book.  ::)

BIC: Yes m'lord, And then the ground began to shake, mounds of it rose every where! I my self was lifted up!  Large moles with war hammers came out all around and under us. They said something in there strange speech and push us down into their underworld.
"Where are you taking us?" I asked, but they did not answer.
We were thrown into a dark damp prison. I hope I never see that place of hell again. The two of us were locked in there for days, with little to eat and drink. The food was gross and all we had to drink was sulfur water. So I said to Romsca, "We most dig are way out of here". And so we did, it took longer that I thought but at least we made it out alive.

OOC: Ewww... sulfur water :-X

LOL ;D

BIC: "While we were digging our way out of the mole hole, the tunnel began to collapse behind us. We were running out of air. We had been using a candle to see where we were going, but we had to put it out since we knew it use up air. The tunnel was pitch black. Fortunately, Leatho removed a rock overhead and we could escape from the tunnel. We were free!
"Soon, in the forest, we got lost. It was night, and raining lightly, so we decided to spend the night in a nearby cave we found. We tried to make a fire, but we just couldn't find enough dry wood. We told stories and ate cold, dried bird meat.
"That night, Leatho took the first shift of guarding our camp. Sometime in the night, he woke me up. At first I thought it was because my shift had come. What Leatho said next surprised me.
         "'Snakes,' he whispered, 'big ones!'
"I got up slowly (I usually need coffee to wake up properly) and looked around at my surroundings. Sure enough, there were snakes, and they completely surrounded us. You can imagine it took us quite a while to extricate ourselves from their scaly grasp, milord."

I totally understand! I like books too

"The snakes were every where m'lord, but we didn't have a weapon between us. So I stripped my shirt and we tied rocks to the cloth. Smash out left and right we did. But they kept coming.. looking for easy prey. So I says to Romsca, lets show them what we're made of. On went the battle into the night." said the vermin
The vermin looked dreamily as he was telling the story, as if he could see what he was saying
"As the sun rose from the earth and into the sky, there stood two mighty beasts. A silhouette against the bright morning. Armed only with rags and stone. There they stood, on a hill of the slain. They stood proudfully on their fallen foe, whom they!...had struck down. And so your lordship we made are way here as fast as are little legs could carry us. Romsca, tell him what happen right before we entered the camp."

"Yeah, you shoulda seen what 'appened afore we entered the camp! There we were, licking our wounds, limping into camp, when a whole flock of ravens attacked us! There were about a score of them, and they were coming towards us, certainly 'ungry an' lookin' for food. So Leatho then comes up with this great idea: that we should play dead. We fell down on the ground an' closed our eyes, 'opin that they wouldn't notice our breathin', and lay still for a while.
"Eventually, due to Leatho's ingenuity, they went away. But those ravens didn't prepare us for what was coming. You see, after the ravens went away, we noticed that the camp was very different. We were at the wrong camp! Suddenly, Long Patrol hares with sabers were marching towards us. I pointed behind them and yelled 'CHARGE'! The hares, thinking there was an army be'ind them, turned and ran in the opposite direction. They figured out what we were doing quickly, but it gave us just enough time to get away. Then, we finally found your camp.
