Am I the only person who's wondered this? Personally, I have no idea

Mattio

Obviously not seeing as you took my idea

Redwaller

Dunno, maybe they use permanent paint on their fur?

Romsca

Wouldn't they shed though? Not every animal in Redwall sheds, but wolves, foxes, and probably most mustelids do. That's mostly the kind of animal that would have tattoos anyway.

Redwaller

Well, I think Brian didn't make the animals to shed and stuff. They're not normal animals.

Right, because they're anthropomorphic animals.

It would be like a cow or horse being branded.

I don't really know. I don't suppose they could put a tattoo somewhere with thick fur, though.

Maybe, and then they just paint the skin while it's burnt or something and it stays there, or maybe they're just normal tattoos that are visible through the fur because maybe their fur on their arms or face (those are really the only places the books said they were) really isn't all that thick

Captain Tammo

Well I doubt they use temporary tattoos, so I'd say Brian just deciedes it'd work, shedding or not

Maybe they shave, add the tattoos, and something about the process prevents fur from going back.

Leatho Shellhound

maybe the fur doesn't grow where the tattoos are.
